Muffler delete question please!

Hi everyone,
if I delete the muffler of the mid pipes, but keep the rear muffler, would I lose back pressure & lose a lot of horsepower?

Thanks,
D

There is no muffler on the mid-pipe. Mufflers are located at the rear or before the tail pipe. Are you reperrinf to the the resonator?

He has to be talking about the resonator, ive heard from many members that deleting the resonator and keeping the stock muffler gains nothing on performance or on sound.

Resonator won't do anything for performance... you may get a higher tone of exhaust but not really any louder.

If you do take the muffler off, you will move your RPM range down a lot... ex: normally you cruise at 70mph at 2000-2300 rpm... taking the muffler off will reduce back pressure and you will then cruise 70mph at 2700-3000 rpm.

^^this is my personal experience... you will lose gas mileage if you cruise anywhere above 65mph, it sucks but it's reality.

With your Race muffler - it will be louder and will also add some "gurrgle" or pop on a downshift.

On a stock exhaust example, resonator is the subway sandwich looking thing, and cats are the bulbs?

O_o why did you get your whole exhaust unbolted (just curious)...

and the answer to your question, yes... the 'bulbs' are the secondary catalytic converters. The primaries are in the exhaust headers.

That'll be sweet, if anyone in the Bay Area notices, maybe it can happen!

Haha nope, I have a wife and kid, I don't think she's noticed that it's in the front yard yet haha. She always parks in the garage. I left it out so I can clean it up and hide it in the garage.

I am guessing that system weighs like a million pounds huh? Haha I have heard our rear muffler alone is 40 lbs which is just stupid!!!

The RPM vs speed would seriously change that badly to move your cruising range up that much??!!

I'm at 2500 RPMS at 70 MPH. I do have a muffler delete.

Maybe it was the sound of the delete that made him give it more gas while driving?
