New Member - Considering a 335i Opinions please?
Hello, Just signed up today
I am considering purchasing a used 08 335i coupe alpine white =) The current car I daily drive now is a Lexus SC300 swaped with a 2JZGTE supra motor with around 350whp. Pictures below =) My car is pending sale right now, and im looking for a good replacement for my lexus. So far the 335i is pretty much everything my Lexus is already 1) Twin Turbo 2) Luxury 3) Reliable 4) Coupe but I want it to be MORE. What could this MORE be..? I test drove a stock 335 and was not impressed with the power. HOWEVER im sure a chipped 335i would be as fast as my Lexus. Then I also wanted a convertible, however the coupe lines are alot better. MPG would be the same as my Lexus right now as well since I daily drive it. Im worried about 3years down the line if the Beamer would be still reliable. My Lexus has given me hardly any problems in the past 4 years I have owned it boosting 15psi daily. Chipping would void any warrantys correct? I also heard of the fuel pump problem in the older year models as well. CHIME IN ! =) |

there are mixed reviews on the reliability of the 335. yes if you tune a 335, it can be very fast, but as with most of the people here, you need to decide whether you really want a bimmer or not. it could be a great car with no issues (like my e39 or e46), or you could have your turbos replaced (like my e92). honestly, if you cant fix a car, i wouldnt buy this car. if i had paid the dealer for everything ive fixed, i would have burned my car to a crisp from anger. as it stands, warranty and my two hands have made this car fun to drive. that said, id buy an e39 m5 if i had it to do again.
