A/C GONE :(

So this thing fell off and I wanted to know more about it, so I can try to not get taken for a ride at the dealer tomorrow, the car still performs the same but this part fell off from the pulley area.

The A/C only blows hot air now

Thanks

look like the AC clutch. hopefully it can be replaced and you don't need to order the whole compressor.

its the front of this...

whole compressor lists for 1100 on there

i hope you can just buy the broken part,

if not hit a salvage yard or used parts center.

Hopefully its not bad and they will replace it for you and not rape you in charges unless you have warranty or something.

I'm not under warranty and yeah it was making a slight grinding noise before but I thought it was normal. The A/C seemed weak but I thought that was normal.

I'm gonna have to say bye to the car if its the whole thing that needs to be replaced, it's been one thing after another with this car. I got rid of my saab because it was having problems, and now this

I might have to switch over to team Lexus or team Subaru, but I really don't want to

yea grinding never gets better, a recharge might have avoided this. the freon carries oil that lubricates your compressor.

i would still call some salvage yards and have a regular mechanic throw the compressor in and recharge the system. dealer will rape you and its basic stuff for any ac shop.

you might get lucky and the grinding was just the part failing, not the compressor seizing. see if they have a clutch replacement kit or something.

i wouldnt sell the car.
