N54 whp?

anyone know what the stock n54's whp is? i just discovered what the difference between whp and bhp is and now i'm pissed to know that the 335 doesn't actually put out 300 horses ...by the way, i'm thinking about the dinan stage 1 for my 08' e92 335xi...anyone have it and can you tell me if you like it and what your whp/wtq is if you dynoed it..thanks

N54 puts out about 273whp on a Dynjet and about 240-250whp on a Mustang dyno.

If it makes you feel better every car suffers a drivetrain loss so whp is always lower than bhp. The loss is actually very low on the 335i, about 10-15% whereas most other cars suffer 15-20% loss.

All car manufacturers give hp at the crank numbers. These are measured on an engine dynometer. There may still be small car to car variances but I'm pretty sure your 335i actually puts out 300 bhp

Wouldn't waste my money on Dinan stage 1. Do some searching on the forum comparing tunes. You'll learn a lot. I did.

Agreed, a Dinan stage 2 flash is way much nicer!

Take it from someone who has had both Stage 1 and 2, don't waste your time with 1...

Why Dinan? I'm not knocking it; just want to know your reasons for choosing that particular tune. Warranty issues aside, you will do much better gaining power from any of the respected tunes discussed in this forum for a lot less dollars/ponies. With your '08, it might not be worth using Dinan.

Its about 275-285rwhp or so depending on dyno, but the car is slightly underrated from the factory. Mustang dynes will read way lower, but this is a dynojet forum as thats what most use and compare here.

I'd love to get a stage 2 but the 2007/2008 e90/e92's with sport package didn't include the oil cooler and i'd have to spend more on that from dinan than i would on the flash =(

The warranty issue is pretty much why...seems like the most reliable simply because of it...but what would you recommend? I've been hearing cobb and JB+ would be best for what i'm looking for...i don't want a flash which would require me to bolt on any extra parts such as an oil cooler/IC, etc...just want a simple flash which would be the least harmless to the engine and not impact its longevity (if thats actually possible)...i don't drive aggressively, except when i'm taunted by S4's or STI's and Lancer EVOs

from the factory? I asked the dealer to look at mine last time i took it for an oil change and the mechanic said there's no oil cooler...it was in the 2009+ models that had the sport pkg or M pkg

Hey Mike, could you explain what Rwhp/Rwtq are? and does the JB pnp add 100 whp with or without extra mods? like does it require an oil cooler/bigger IC, etc?

That can't be...the oil cooler is located on the right side, inside the front bumper...is that what you're referring to? i don't have that on mine

i'm not calling you a liar or trying to be a douche...just wondering how you had it on yours and i don't have one on mine because there was a forum here a while back about the oil cooler only being offered in the 2009+ 335i and thats true because my cousin has a 2011 e92 335i xdrive w/sport pkg and i saw his oil cooler inside his bumper

I definitly have an oil cooler if you look under the passenger side front wheel well u can see it..u can also tell from under the hood when you look at the oil filter housing thats designed w additional oil cooler lines that route to the oil cooler.

The 2007 335i w MT and sports package came w/ factory oil cooler..perhaps cause u have an xi?..
