BMS PBX and taking your car in for service question.
So clearly I have the PBX and was wondering if you guys take it off to get your car serviced. Even for small stuff (non-engine related). With the JBs I know they throw codes and you have to clear it, does the PBX throw codes if you remove it?
Last thing I want is to void my warranty (guess I shouldn't mod it, right? yea yea). I got my PBX installed at a very well known reputable shop here in Jersey and the guy who installed it told me they don't really check into it with a 328, mostly with 335s so to just disable it and I'll be ok, but I was wondering if you guys have gone through this? |

its a case-by-case basis... some dealerships will likely write-up your PBX as a cause of the fault and some dealerships don't even run a full diagnostic... so, my suggestion is to be on the safe side and take out the PBX anyway, it's not like it's a BIG deal to put back in...

lol i went into the dealer 3 times with my PBX, not only that I forgot to set it to map 0. One of the times was for a CEL light, another was for checking out the ticking in the engine due to faulty cylinder head, and I forgot why I brought it in the other time. They didn't say anything to me about it.

Does thing cause any codes though? I'd rather not mess with my ECU. I had it installed 1 hour from my house, I watched him do it. Of course I'm sure it's not as easy as it looks.

I have same concern also, from reading through few sites, only ecu come with piggy back detection is the msv81 which is on newer 335i. MSD80 which most of 328i should have still can throw a shadow code which cannot be access through regular OBDII scanner, only bavarian technic scanner and BMW factory tool can clear them.
