BMW Alpine Upgrade
(I know that there are better options out there, but still to have a better idea about what audio upgrades are available to me: )
Is BMW Alpine upgrade available for/compatible with 2011 e90 models? I have 335i with standard audio (HiFi). Thanks. |

Yeah, HiFi is "standard" only in that it doesn't cost extra in the US. In the rest of the world "standard" means base Stereo.
The Alpine upgrade that I know about is really intended to take base Stereo systems, such as the rest of the world has had forever and we had in 2010 and early 2011, and get them close to the BMW HiFi system. It's not intended as an upgrade to a HiFi system. I'm pretty sure that the reason that we never got the Alpine system offered in the US - even in the years where we did get base Stereo - is that Federal law says that the automaker can't threaten to void your car warranty if you buy something aftermarket IF the dealer actively sells the same thing, but says that if you buy it from them, your warranty stays intact. You need to be very certain that you have HiFi and not base Stereo - 2011 cars could be either way. If you have tweeters, then you have HiFi. For more on that, see here. |

Yes, my car is a late version of 2011 335i. I have tweeters as well as subs under the seats. 8 speakers total.
So, in that case Alpine kit is not really an upgrade for me. Thank you for the explanation. |
