Steering wheel vibration?

Is it steering wheel vibration?
How do you know if the steering wheel is vibrating? Isn't the steering wheel supposed to provide some feedback? Would you confuse steering wheel feedback with steering wheel vibration?

Different roads will sometimes provide different steering wheel feedback.

So how do you distinguish the difference?

like your driving and the steering wheel will sort of shake 1 inch to the left and one inch to the right constantly. over and over and over, that's vibration. Some road will cause you steering wheel to pull and or turn your steering wheel like someone else is driving. You will feel that a little more with the e92. On roads that have been make oval shape, when you drive on them the steering wheel will pull you to a side.

Steering wheel feedback i believe is that oval road explanation. and vibration is shaking of the wheel.

I'm not an expert but here's my $.02:

When you are in a highway and driving relatively straight, take both your hands of the steering wheel for a brief while (of course, under safe conditions). If its experiencing a vibration you can literally see it shake (like billmister said). Also, I believe if your wheel alignment is not done right then you get these vibrations. Maybe, you can also see the car pulling too much to the left/right depending on the alignment.

Well, this is how I got my current non-BMW car checked out/fixed as it vibrates on speed > 50mph and while applying brakes

If you think its a vibration bring it in to the delaership. They will take a look and let you know. You may even have a bent rim. You should be able to tell by how the steering wheel "feels" in your hands.
