I had this issue a while back. I printed out the TSB, brought it to the dealer and they fixed the wheel (it took 2 tries but they got it). It was the same thing, car went straight but the wheel was offset to the left just enough to drive me crazy.

Its for xi models

Have you asked you dealer if they can just centre the wheel ??

SUBJECT
Steering Wheel Offset

MODEL
E90 (3 Series) and E91 (3 Series Sports Wagon) equipped with xDrive and produced up to 2/06.

SITUATION
Customer may complain of a slight steering wheel offset (about 5 degrees) when driving straight ahead.

CAUSE
The steering gear was not properly positioned to the front axle carrier.

CORRECTION
In case of a customer complaint, perform a wheel alignment to center the steering wheel.

The steering gear brackets have been improved in 2/06 to have a better position in relation to the front axle carrier.

PROCEDURE

Torque the bolts connecting the steering gear to the front axle carrier to 56 Nm.

Perform a wheel alignment and center the steering wheel per Repair Instructions RA 32 00 150 (with load) or RA 32 00 155 (without load).

Perform steering angle sensor adjustment/calibration per Repair Instructions RA 61 31 996.

Oh I'm not sure, I have the TSB saved at home. I don't have the ix and the dealer fixed my car per the TSB (without charge).

I can double check what I have at home tonight.

do you see anything of the same issue for the e92 335i? i've had this problem for quite a few months now, but the dealership keep insisting that there's nothing wrong w/ it. they did perform a wheel alignment on it, but now it's off centered to the other side (right side).

I have the same issue (E92 335)--BMW is a PITA in that it's covered for the first 2k only (unlike Japanese cars where it's 1 yr. or 12k).

What I was thinking is that when I get an alignment 10k down the road, can't I just ask them to straighten the wheel then? I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the alignment, just the centering of the wheel. I mean, it doesn't cost extra to center the wheel, right?

I didn't think I needed an alignment but stealership had to comp me so I asked for an alignment and glad I did because I needed one. Might want to get one if you have less than perfect city/hwy roads. Saves on gas!

Yeah I had this on my 325i.
Told them that the steering wheel was about 5 degrees off from center.
Car drove straight but because I drive with both hands on the wheel (no pimpin in my car) it felt odd that my hands were pointed to the left when the car was driving straight.

First attempt - alignment. Promptly told them that was NOT the issue
Second attempt - fixed

may be this is why i keep getting flashed by oncoming traffic on a two lane road when i have the automatic adaptive headlights on. may be they are pointing to the left ever so slightly.
