335i Fuel Pump replacement WAIT TIME - 335i ONLY!
If you are unfortunate enough to have had your pump go out, let us know what your wait time was, so that other can see how widespread the problem actually is.
I know these pump threads are getting annoying, but this will help people know what to expect as far as wait time when theirs goes out. |

Today is the 30th day since my car was brought to my dealer with the failed FP. As of this morning, the dealer has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA when my car will be back on the road.

Haven't been following this topic a whole lot but is this fuel pump issue happening on all 335i's (e90, e92 and i guess now e93's) or is it just happening on e92's. Have not seen anyone with an e90 post that they have had a problem yet. but like I said I haven't read every post on this issue.
BTW I have 11,000+ miles on my e90 335i and no problems. Mine was a 9/06 build. Ed

Its happening on e90s and e92s, and I have heard of some e93s too. Some pumps will not die, there is a percentage that have the defect... the problem is that even with the new pumps, there is still a percentage that fail.
So far 18 people voted with bad pumps, its a public poll, you can see who voted, and see that some are e90 |

Out of 57 Votes from 335i owners,
21 failed, 36 not failed... thats pretty bad odds... I am guessing even more will die with time, considering most cars have under 6k miles still |

Thru April 2008, there have been 17,921 335 cars sold. (Coupe 8365, Sedan 7638, Xi Sedan 360). source: http://home.att.net/~fdmeloan/3_Series_Sales.pdf I am sure that there are more than 21 failed HPP's out of 17,921. But how many ? If I am calculating correctly: 21 failures = 0.12% of all cars, 100 = 0.56%, 250 = 1.4%, 500 = 2.79%, 1000 = 5.58% My guess is that it is ~250 cars, since that was the total of HPP's on back order.

one thing that shocked me was the new 535i/xi doesn't have an oil temp gauge esp with all the heating issues in this engine..and only one exhaust not dual like the 335.....i guess we will have to wait a year or 2...when the new one comes anyways i would still rather have the 335 and i just came from an e34 540 dinan5...so...ehhh i gotta stop slacking and sell her already had too many offers!!!!! I FEEL I AM IN HEAVEN IN MY 335!!!!!! and i have driven tons of $120k + cars but i think this car just has the perfect setup for mods and it is balanced so well performance wise stock as well!!!!

My SM told me this morning that at the ....conference in Las Vegas, his people heard a blasting from other BMW employees regarding this subject. It sounded to me as if it got rather heated between corporate and the dealerships. Do not remember what conference it was.

I dropped the car off on 4/30. SA informed me on 5/2 that it'll take at least 2 weeks to get new fuel pump in. He doesn't sound very optimistic about it so I'm guessing it'll be 3-4 weeks if not longer.

you can only use our current sample group, which is this forum, and this poll, which takes it to more like 20-30% !! I am not saying this is accurate either, but yours was not fair at all... Also, there might be 250 HPP's on back order, but that doesnt count the many many cars that already had a replacement, or havent been authorized for one yet... not to mention all the cars that WILL fail, but just dont have enough miles on them yet |

I do not know. But my guess is a very small percentage of the 17,921 335's. Plus we can not be sure who many unaffected 335 owners replied to the poll.
