What color foglights should I go with?

I have an LCI, for those of you that know or don't know, the e92 LCI daytime running lights are a blue/purple, the closest matching color to that would be 10000K fogs, right now I have 6000k.

You guys think I should match the daytime running lights with my fogs with HID 10000k, keep my HID 6000k fogs, or go that yellow fog color?

I say stick with the current setup. Same color fogs and angel eyes can get old after a while. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed my same color temp. angel eyes and fogs but I love my 10,000k angel eyes now with my 6000k fogs and 6000k D1S bulbs. Just my .02 cents, or you can just buy the bulbs and switch em out whenever you get tired of a certain color temp

You have inadvertently hit on the major misconception of these forums.

As color temps go up numerically (ie from 4300 [standard HID output] to 10k) light output decreased dramatically and glare increases, so that 1600k bulb (if it existed) would merely glow, but would bling oncoming drivers.

Let's look at fog lights.

A proper foglight is designed to light up the area immediately in front of your car and to the sides so that you can see the edges of roads and lane markers. They are mounted low so that much of the light is "under" the fog and that the light will not reflect back towards the driver.

Any change in color temps will lead to increased glare.

ceb, facts have no place in this discussion. All you're gonna do is confuse everyone

personally, I think the OP needs to mix it up and get green fog lights.

I have an E92 LCI, I put in 7500K bulbs (GP Thunders from E-92 Lighting). It's a pretty close match. I don't find the fog lights very functional in this car unlike my previous car so I did it for the matching looks. Most of the time I forget to put them on.

get an automatic-rotating kaleidoscope lens with a Prism bulb to display all the colors in a 'funky' way... ^__^ orginal, no?

Fogs using yellow light shine through fog better (from what i'm told) which is the purpose for them anyway... if you want to go for looks, go 6000k or 6500k ^__^

As you go higher past 4300k the light gets bluer and then purple(as you already know). What also happens is as the light gets bluer you will have decreased depth perception. The bluer light visually flattens the area it is lighting and it become harder to judge distances.
I had 4300k iin my fogs and they worked pretty good at filling in the light to the sides and unde rthe headlight beams.
After living in Arkansas(or as i like to call it, Hell) I found the 3000k Yellow to be the best for all around use in the rain, fog, and general night driving. They do an great job of lighting the side areas and do not blind oncoming traffic. The cut offs on the fog reflectors is very clean and when adjusted properly they are the shit.
SO if you want them for function I say go with 3000, if just going for looks I wouldnt go higher than 5000 or 6000 because it wil start to screw with your ability to see at night.

Then go with whatever you think looks best. I like how the yellow looks but not everyone agrees. If you are trying to match all of the lights it is tough to get them exact but some people have

im in the same exact pickle! lol got an Alpine White 2011 335i LCI E92 and had the SAME EXACT QUESTION in mind. Yellow would look ok on Alpine White, but too "civic-ish" .... Im a fan of 8000k but nothing to match that since the AE are more 10000k. So if it was me, which it is me lol, just saving up some cash, i'd go with 10000k especially since its strictly for show.

I know myself, and if and when i get that, I will be driving with AE and FOGs only, no headlights.... and yes... for all the people who have safety concerns for me, I already heard them, so dont bother. I do not live in the boonies LOL more then enough street lights where i drive

I can't figure out what I want. I like the yellows for the contrast and the increased visibility, but I'm afraid of looking JDM/ricey. Color-matching seems nice, but I worry about decreasing visibility from the already ineffective stock bulbs.

EDIT: if this helps any..

Im only going to be rolling with my daytime Angel Eyes and my fogs on, thats why Im leaning towards matching with 10000k , more than anything tho, its what Long suggested.

If you want a pic angel eyes and 3000k without headlights let me know and i will take one for you tomorrow sp you can see. I have Alpine white and I like the yellow look. As for it being ricey, people think volks and advans are ricey even though they are nice wheels, besides benz and ferrari have cars that have yellow fogs and they arent ricers. Get a set of bulbs in each color and then you can switch the look whenever you want.
