Passenger Airbag Light Still On!

I have taken in my 328i in 2 times to get serviced, because everytime I have a passenger the airbag light stays on, which means the air bag is deactivated!

Last night it came on again, so this is the 3rd time. My 0 maintanance expired 2 weeks ago, but I did purchase an extended warranty! Since this is reoccurring and the Dealer was not able to fix it, will they fix it free this time? I'm not paying for this crap!

I mean this is a delta government regulated issue! It's also dangerous. What if I get into an accident and I have a passenger!!!!

bad oc3 seat occupancy sensor. some models are recalled and some are as needed. if you are under warranty you should have no issues.

They replaced the mat in the seat twice already! So what gives! Each time they had my car for 2 days.

i have been thru 2 also.

how far apart are you going through them? mine lasted just over a year.

the seats are sensitive to people kneeling on them, do you put anything heavy and irregular shaped on the passenger seat often?

Only about a month maybe 2 between the mat changes. No one kneels on it, the only irregular thing on it once in a while is my girlfriends rat terrier that weighs maybe 18-20lbs. It only deactivated when someone was sitting in it.

i was lucky mine went off a few weeks ago and my CPO expired about a month ago, thank god i was part of the recall, I made a topic about it and people said it was a few hundred dollars to fix out of warranty.....you should be covered either way with your extended warranty. If it fails again can't they lemon it since its the same thing 3 times without success?

I thought there was a 10 year warranty on this.

I thought there was a 10 year warranty on this.
Its one of the covered recalls.

This I believe is a recall item. Check out the NHTSA web site and search for:
NHTSA Action Number: EA08001. It should not cost you any money out of pocket.

Here is the number for BMW NA 800-831-1117. Any BMW dealer will be able to give you this info for the recall if you provide the last 7 digits of your VIN.

Realistically I dont think they would lemon the car for an airbag sensor. I wish so I could get a 335i but thats wishful thinking.

yea they extended the warranty to 10 years but only for very early model e90's, I know a lot of people that were not covered and had to shell out for it, ridiculous if you ask me, if they're all suffering fromt he same issue it shoulda been taken care of. But yea, take it in and get it fixed, you're covered either way with your warranty

And the recall covers sport seats only. Very few e90s are covered. More e60s were under this recall.

If the issue was brought under your new car warranty, it should absolutely be fixed. All parts have a 1 year warranty if they are serviced by a dealer.

I had my mat sensor replaced under CPO. My Vehicle does not have sport package so my car was not covered under the recall.
