335is question

I'm thinking of going with a new 335is... Wondering if anyone has experience with the optional 335is "performance suspension"?? Same for the optional "performance exhaust" as well... They say it's REALLY stiff, but I run 5oolb springs on my M3, so how stiff could it be?

I'm trying to get the best performance I can, direct from factory... Already lived through several cars with ton$ of aftermarket upgrades and don't want to go that route again.

i have no experience with the performance suspension but as far as the performance exhaust goes i would say its a complete waste as the 335is already comes with an exhaust system that sounds amazing.

I think its a waste, bet dealer installed.

The 335is already has a performance exhaust and your not going to get more performance unless you just want more noise. Otherwise just pull the exhaust valve and you have a performance exhaust. The car is also pretty low now.

The parts I suspect are dealer installed and not factory.

You can pop the panel in the trunk behind the left tail light. Unplug the plug with the metal clip & the exhaust system flap stays open all the time. Same sound as the PE.

Plug it back in before going to BMW for service or it will throw a problem code on thier scanner.

Can't really give you an accurate comparison being ive never driven your m3, but i bought the IS with the "performance exhaust and suspension" (which should be included anyways?) Suspension can be pretty stiff especially with the RFT's but nothing too serious. The exhaust is pretty much perfect (mind i also did the golf tee mod), and love the music it produces

I think he is referring to the options not stock.

There are dealer installed suspension and exhaust options, check it on BMWusa. I personally think these are redundant on a 335is and if your going to tack on $2600 to a 335is your really wanting M3 performance and might as well trade for one.

The 335is includes a tuned exhaust which is a modified version of the stock minus some packing material according to BMW and more free-flowing. Getting the performance exhaust would make no difference other than the sound and wasting money.

The 335is includes the standard sport suspension, going to the performance suspension lowers the car more. Keep in mind that BMW added stiffer motor mounts on the 335is versus the 335i already.

Save your pennies and get the Dinan Stage 3 suspension. It also lowers the front of the car more than what the BMW SP gives.

The 335is exhaust is one of it's best features. Not too loud when you're crusing, but absolutely howls once you get on it. I've received numerous compliments from both friends and strangers about how good the exhaust sounds. Mostly also disbelief that it is a stock exhaust.

I don't know about the performance suspension, but it would be a real shame to replace the stock 335is exhaust. It's so perfectly matched to the car's personality.

You'll love the stock exhaust. The suspension is the same as the sport suspension ZSP and not too stiff IMO. It's got it's flaws however, a bit too crashy and bouncy at times for my liking. If you're looking to lower your ride and get better handling go aftermarket.

I found out the higher performance exhaust and suspension aren't actually installed at the factory, but instead, at the port of entry, which in this case is somewhere in NJ. Same is true for the spoiler options. What they don't mention is since it's installed at port, there's an additional $1k labor charge (for the suspension). Decided it wasn't worth it... I can always add something later.

So, I placed the order for a regular old 2012 IS... here in December.

Question

Another question for 335is owners... Are the rear seats split folding?? I noticed it doesn't specifically say they are, whereas the 335i does mention it...
