What does "A" mean?
My car is just a regular 335i sedan. I just went to see what's the production date of my car, and on the sticker I saw my model listed as 335iA. What does that last "A' mean?
Thank you. |

Actuallly, you are all WRONG.
it stands for "automatisch" (the german word for automatic) They actually used to put that on the rear badge of the car, they stopped doing that in the mid-90's /thread |

Thank you all, guys, for your input.
It's not a badge on the back; my badge is just 335i. I just saw that 335iA as a model name on the sticker with VIN and production date. I'll try to make a pic of that sticker tomorrow. |

Fleet, what about old badges that just had the "A" in it. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing one like 3xxiA at one point?

Craziness. Neither our old 325e or L6 had the automatic badge.

bmw uses it mostly for paper work and to identify the car. so lets say your looking in a used car magazine, they would mark 325iA, so it would be easliy distinguished as an automatic.
there is also "c"... 330cic, used mostly with the E46 body, the 330ci would be hard top model, while 330cic would be the drop top model. |
