Can the installer bend a 162 rim during install
I just had my 162's rims installed, about 50 miles ago, just noticed the rear left one has a slight bend on it. Is it possible for them to bend it with a pry bar during installation?

Wow, 2 for 2 on unlikely eh? I don't remember hitting anything, no pothole or speed bump. In a short 50 miles, seems very strange.... and it's the rear wheel.

Yes, purchased them brand new. Only noticed it today after washing them, could see the location was facing upward, at about 11 o clock. It's not noticeable in any other direction.

Here are pics, still not convinced it's a pothole since there is a "rust" stain the size of the bend.

This definitely the installer screwed it up.

rim bent
It sure looks like the installer did it. With all of the automated equip that is used if you are not careful it is possible for it to happen. We've done it on our equip and I know others who have also. It could have also been damaged in transit by being dropped.

It is highly unlikely that the shop damaged your wheel. The other side of your wheel is really the only place that gets touched by equipement, or should atleast. When the rim goes on the mounter, it should be put face down, with plastic or rubber feet to protect its finish.
I think you hit a pothole my friend. It happens, I hit one a few months ago, and bent two rims, one lost air.

I am not a tire installer but installing FRT seems very difficult due to the stiffer side wall. I hope all installer place the tire onto the mounte face down so that if anything should happen, it does not show when the tire is put back onto the car. Sorry to see that. Speaking of new tire, I had 2 new rear RFT replaced with RFT this weekend. I better go inspect my rim after work (knock on wood).

I don't believe the rims were dropped. I was standing nearby watching the install. He took them out of the boxes infront of me. I stopped by again today, they checked the balance, it was off on all 4 wheels so he redid them.
Furthermore, they explained that if any metal part touched the rim, such as a pry bar, it would make the bend inward, not outward as shown. I guess I believe them, what I can't believe is that I hit a pothole and not know I even did it.

Which way did the rim get bent? Was it inward or protruding outward?
