xi tire pressure
When my car came back from its Progman upgrade, I received an e-mail from Bryan Celli, the assistant service manager at DiFeo. He has been experimenting with finding the right tire pressure for bumpy road conditions in the NY metro area to provide excellent handling without a jarring ride.
He told me he set my tires to 35 psi all around and wanted to know what I thought after I had a chance to drive. I have to agree, 35 all around is perfect. Three cheers for Bryan! (I have 18" bridgestone summer tires on the car by the way.)

Does the 35psi apply to all size tires or only 18"s? Any recommandations for other sizes?

I run 32/36 (F/R), as per the sticker on the door.

I keep them at 32 like the door jamb says. I've let them get higher when the temperature warmed up but the higher pressures just felt "different" like the car didn't feel as darty.
You routinely travel over 100? If so I want your highways.

It says 32/36 for up to 100, and 32/35 for over 100 (not fully loaded).

I bought my car from Ricki, just like the past 8 or 9 BMWs, and just ordered a 550i in carbonschwarz from her.

Interesting, mine says 32 all around. I suppose subtle tire and chassis differences actually matter.

My car was delivered with 38 all around. i dropped it down to 32 all around and my ride is noticably better. Not anywhere near comfortable, but before it felt like I was driving on rubber wagon wheels.

oh yes ricki the sales manager? i bought mine from ricardo who is no longer with the company. he was very good, gave me the price i asked for, no hidden fees of any sort. unfortunately i will be going to park ave for my next car after my service experience with difeo. it was so bad that i even take my car only to park ave to get serviced. they are good to me because my stepfather had leased a 525 a few years ago.

Nice tip Jonathan. I generally go +2 over recommended pressure. This usually puts me at 34 front and 39 rear. I will give 35/35 a try in both my xi's and see how that feels.

I agree with the notion of experimenting with tire pressure and I suggest we start a thread to track tested pressures and our seat-of-the-pants findings. We must also note wheel sizes as 16inch tires will require less pressure than lower profile 18inch tires.
Would this topic warrant a "sticky" at the top of the page?
