Oil Sensor WTF!

I have a 2007 335i sedan produced in nov. 2006. In 3 weeks (2000 km) I have used 1/2L of oil untill yesterday. Well today my oil level light came on and said +1L . I am thinking there is no way this engine burnt 1L of oil in 2000km.

Well on my drive home from work it now says my oil level is full! So I stop into my dealer and they book me an appointment for Tuesday. When I get back into my car and start driving the oil reading is now back to half full.

This is just crazy!! No way to check the oil bmw says.

There have been some bad sensors out there. Sounds like you have one. It is a shame they (BMW) left the dipstick out of the mix. I really miss it. Someone would have a potential for an aftermarket item there if it could be done without breaking the bank. Shiv????

Garage List
My car is just the same, in the 7months ive had it, the oil light has come up twice and ive put in a whole litre all up. Now its done 15000kms, Ive changed the entire oil and filter and topped up with 5litres of fresh oil. Running good now. I reckon the new E90 do chew thru a fair bit of oil in their early days.

You have a bad oil sensor. Mine did that at first. Now the light comes on and the gauge drops like it has no power after about 2-3 minutes of driving,...everytime. My sensor has been on back order for about 3 months now.
