so close to buying a 2006 330i, but need answers first

I'm not sure which sub-forum to post this in, so I made the same thread twice, here and in the "pre-owned BMW ordering" forum. Sorry if that's against policy...

I'm almost set to buy a 2006 330i, but I have two questions before I pull the trigger.

1. There's no way to get the sport pack wheels without the pack itself, right? It has the right wheels for it, but the listing doesn't say it has the sport pack.

2. All 330i's come with the Logic 7 sound system, right?

EDIT: I originally had the link to the specific car posted, but the dealer took it off their site because I put it on hold. Here's the link to their cars.com ad.

Thanks!

Wow... lots of good info Mallard! Want to interpret that for me? I can see all the sport pack options, and I'm GUESSING that "677 HIFI SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL" means the L7 sound system?

Thanks a bunch.

330i....good choice my friend.

Both my friend and I bought an e90 this past may. I went the 06 330i route. He went to 07 335i route. I have since changed my oil and spent some money on nice upgrades, He has since has his in the shop for turbo issues 3 times. 3 TIMES!

And to answer your question about the sport wheels, I have my oem set of sport wheels (style 162) for sale and am putting up pics today. The tires are awesome. Continental DWS with 75% tread left. If interested let me know.

I have read all 330 06's in the US came with L7 a sure sign is the dash speaker and the equalizer settings built into the head unit whichever one you have (nav i drive or standard radio).

I think you had to pay for L7 at some point

In all model years but I think it was free in the upper level models in 06 and 07
330 and 335 . The best way to tell is the center dash speaker plus the equalizer
functions in the head unit instead of just simple bass and treble controls.

Every 330 has L7. Just look at the top of the dash, there is a speaker if it is L7 equipped.

That 330 is pretty overpriced BTW. If you turned around and sold it tomorrow, most dealers would give you 16k.

The KBB price is right on with their price... It's from Carmax, which at least has the reputation for never moving their prices. Is that not entirely true?

I traded my 330 in with 88k miles for 12k. Try selling a 330 and you realize that KBB prices mean nothing to people looking around, it just wont sell. This board is full of members with similar problems.

And the lack of warranty is also a bad idea. You wouldn't be that far off a CPO 328 at 22k, why go for this?

With the options clicked on the 328 that come on this (mainly the sound system and sport package), I'd think the 328 would be significantly more. Also, the extra hp/torque of the 330 don't hurt!

It wouldn't be significantly more. 328s with half the mileage can be had for less than 24k.

I wouldn't have any BMW without a warranty. As a former Acura owner myself, you can be lulled into feeling a false sense of security over modern car reliability but it just wont be like that with an E90.

Power windows break, folding mirrors break, electric glitches and the occasional engine problem is also not uncommon.

It is a bit pricey, but that's the used car market these days. I bought a CPO E92 328xi with 34,253 miles ZCP ZPP for $29,900 in April. That was the average price at the time AND that's after knocking out $900 from their asking price. Then again car prices in NJ are ridiculous.

330i has the Logic 7, it has the equalizer, extra speakers in the rear doors (e90) and the center speaker in the front dash. The car pictured has the speaker in the rear door (picture #11), I would suspect that the car has Logic7. Also ZSP and ZPP are must have packages. The ZSP package gets the Type 162 wheels which are on this car also.

Here is a thread worth reading, see post #14
www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179839

Great choice on the 330i though, I compared the 2006 e90 330i to a 2007 e90 335i and the decision was not hard at all in buying my 330i. To much HPFP controversy to suit me and the idea that the 330i was a single year offering made the 330i a little more rare. I purchased mine a year and half ago for $22,400.00 as a CPO with premium package (ZPP), Sport Package (ZSP) Cold Weather Package (ZCW) Rear Parking Distance Control (PDC), no I-Drive, four (4) new (OEM) Tires, Steptronic (Auto) with 31,000 miles. Warranty until 09/2012.

$22,599.00 sounds a little steep especially without warranty. For comparison, check out BMW North America site (www.bmwusa.com), click on certified pre-owned, click on model search, fill in the blanks. May find one that is still CPO. It may be worth your while to drive a little further to get a better deal.

Is there a possibility that there is a speaker grille, yet no speaker inside? Or do they delete the grille altogether and put a vent instead? Because so far, I havent seen any e90s without the dash grille in the middle. I'm pretty confused

No grille. The space between is just plastic. Just look in any new 328 or stripped 335 when you get a loaner, you will see it.
