2 quick mod questions
1) Are the key hole protectors worth it? And are they superglued over the current keyholes so you can't use them in an emergency? I have CA, so I'm considering to get this so that no one messes with my car (I installed OEM alarm already) And does anyone have this small mod and find it useful or just cosmetic?
2) For the side reflector delete, I was wondering if modbargins gives forum members or discount because I see a place to put in a coupon code... I'm planning on ordering these from **********s, are there any other stores that have these mods? OK that was more than 2, but short nonetheless... |

keyhole cover
I read somewhere that the owner with these covers couldn't get into their car to open the hood when the battery died. Look into it. That could be embarrassing.

the keyhole thing is a full replacement, not a cover.
Indeed, if the battery should die, you won't be able to get in your car.

That's a good reason not to get it! Hey you might want to check Bimmian as I think they are cheaper for both and that's where **********s gets it from.

What do you mean by "one-way"? I looked at the instructions on the Bimmian site and they seemed to say the lock could be reinserted as easily as it could be removed...???
Also entry through the trunk is always possible in an emergency, if you've got folding rear seats.

Of course it can be reinstalled, but that wouldn't help you with a dead key fob while the cover is in place and the lock is out. That's all I meant.

When we took our cars to a car show recently, we were required to disconnect the batteries. The only way to get into the car then would be to use the key or break the window (unless the hood is open).

Oh...ok good thing I asked, I'm just going with side reflector delete then..I'd like to be able to get into the car without climbing through the trunk... Don't all e92's have fold down seats? I don't have Cold Weather and mine still fold down... Thanks guys!

I use to have the keyhole replacement on my E46 and never had any problems. I could always unlock the trunk, put down the seats in my coupe, and crawl into the cabin if the battery went dead. So, do they offer a replacement for the E92 yet? If I remember correctly it was an OEM part for the E46.

Isn't there a way to use your key thing from the key fob in the trunk, thats the whole reason we have it right? or is it to use on the normal keyholes?
I just remembered that I don't think there's a keyhole for the trunk.... |

Yes there is but isn't easy to see. It's underneath the lip that hangs over the rear license plate on the right hand side.

All E92's have fold down rear seats, but only those with the Cold Weather Package get the "pass-through" if I remember correctly.

Btw, if you were thinking about eliminating the existing keyholes for safety, you still have windows to worry about. Most thieves will just break your window and get in. They won't waste their time picking your lock.
