I just recieved a call from BMW Gemany

Just got off the phone with BMW (the interviewer had a heavy German accent). They asked me if I would be willing to have test equipment attached to my car so they can evaluated my driving habits for approxamately 3000 miles. They emailed me a questionaire last week about my driving habits and fuel consumption. Tonight was the follow up call with more questions about my attitude on
city and highway driving.

Excellent, sounds like they might be getting valid data, rather than the crap they get from bogus interviews (like the dealer rating system).

Do you get any benifit out of it beyond helping the Deutschlanders? Sounds very interesting. Hope they don't report you to the cops when you hit tripple digit speeds.

Wow, that is the first time I have ever heard of that! What kind of recording equipment for 3000 miles? Any rewards?

I got a call from some guy with a thick German accent as well. The caller id displayed a Germany phone no. He asked me to participate in an interview about the 335i and answer a questionnaire. We got to the part where he asked whether the car was manual or step...I said manual and he ended it there. Said the interview was limited to step equipped vehicles. Strange huh.

Could it have anything to do with the fuel pump malfunction in steps (only having one oil cooler...)

the fuel pump failure has nothing to do with the lack of oil cooler, fuel pumps are failing on 6MT and 6AT cars... regardless of oil cooler... its completely un-related.

Wow, that's surprisingly low. I did one with a 401k co. regarding their website and it was $100. Then I did one with another co. and it was $250. All of these were check made out immediately and 1.5 hrs. of my time. I would think attaching things to the car should be $1k, no $1k no dice.

So, here's some tips on how to get the temps to max out ...

1. Drive hard between the lights.. especially uphill..
2. Make sure the A/C is on..
3. Run it hard outside the city to get it into a high steady state, then find the worst route thru that city.. lots of idling in traffic with the A/C on.. run it hard in every gear to the next light.. then the next.. use the D/S and paddles
4.
