the spray on rim cleaners work if you have light brake dust on your wheels, 2+ weeks of DD driving probably wouldnt come off without agitation.
For example: i live by SONAX wheels cleaner, if i wash my car every week, and spritz some QD on the wheels, i'm able to get by just using SONAX & a power washer to clean the wheels.

In short - no, they don't. They work better than car shampoo on neglected wheels, but you need to rub them still. I recently tried using a clay bar on wheels - got every bit of build up off, although I spent good 2 hours on each wheel.
I wonder if there's wax suitable for wheels, since it would make a world of difference once applied to clean wheels? |

Can you wash dirty grimy hands by just spraying a little soap on them and just rinsing - no physical agitation?

Basic Cleaning Requirements - Three types of energy are required;
1. Chemical energy- provided by the synthetic cleaner 2. Mechanical energy (agitation) provided by machine or hand 3. Thermal energy -provided by warm or hot water. Heated water breaks down water-soluble soiling faster as it reduces overall chemical usage because it reduces the surface tension. Heat acts as a catalyst promoting quicker reactions between chemicals and the soil thereby minimizing dwell time. |

I use P21S and have for years, it does require some agitation if you want them sparkly clean. Learned the hard way in the early 80's about acid wheel cleaners and such.
Opti coating my wheels really soon if I can save a few drops once I do the truck before winter. If not it'll be DG105 on the wheels. The other's work ok but do not last much longer than a month on wheels. Ok I've been thinking this for a really long time and never spoke up so flame suit on here goes. Anyone ever think about long term affects of a cleaner that works chemically against iron and the brake components? Brake rotors are high iron content and I'd love to see down the road what a cleaner that "attacks" iron (that's the chemical change you see in the green to red color) has on those. That's my main concern with them. They work fantastic no doubt seen it with my own 4 eyes but I'll err on the safe side with the tried and true since I learned my lesson long ago. |

I wasted $5 on a OTC wheel cleaner (Black Magic I think...) and after spraying it on and rinsing it off, I wiped a spot with my finger and could see that the cleaner did absolutely nothing.... |
