e90 328i OVERHEATING ??????
hi, i just got back today driving for like 30 minutes in the 85ish degree weather. I turned on the AC around 8 minutes before i got home, the fan blew as fast as it can go. So i drive into the garage and i get out for a sec, i feel like im in a wind tunnel, every fan musta been on full blast.the one next to the rear right tire working overtime....it was sooooo loud, like a 747 next to me...ok, not that loud but boy i was surprised. i turn the car off and open the hood, it was beyond steaming! This has me kinda worried, its only 85 and i didnt have the AC on the whole time and yet the fans are blowing like crazy and the engine is red hot.......Any ideas... or is this normal?

Did you check the coolant level after it cooled down? Radiators only work when they are completely sealed and under pressure. You may have a leak somewhere that is causing it to overheat.
Check the coolant level under the hood after it cools down. If I'm not mistaken, there is a knob that you unscrew that you can pull out a dipstick. Make sure you stay on top of this and take it to the dealer if there is a noticeable loss of coolant. If the motor sustains damage due to overheating, they can fault you for neglecting to check your fluids (between services). |

If you open the hood and you are facing the engine, the coolant tank will be on your left side (rt side of car).. It's not clear like on other cars, so it has a cap that you have to unscrew.. Make sure the car is completely cool, though...

no that shouldn't matter... I was just warning you so that hot coolant wouldn't shoot all over you when you cracked it open...
I thought you had mentioned earlier that you saw steam coming from the motor? |

The 325, 328, and 330 all do not have coolant gauges... They rely on a warning message to show up on the display.
If there is no signs of leakage, I think everything is fine... If you do have an issue, you will get a warning message if you begin to overheat and the car will go into 'limp' mode to get you home safely. |
