SECOND fuel pump failed

6,500 miles the first one, 10,200 miles second one. This absolutely SUCKS. Missing oil cooler.... I'm really starting to get pissed off with this car.

I have had a few issues with mine as well. I have never owned a BMW before and I think this will be my last. Service is horible, parts have been failing..etc but we have to expect this with a first generation car.

Hope everything works out for ya.

Sorry about your fuel pump. Lucky so far here in that respect.

Twice! Ouch. Which Dealer in SOCAL did your work...did they try the software update first or just replace the pump each time?

this is bad news... how many people have more than 4k miles on their second fuel pump? This might be the first person to log that many miles on a second pump...

Damn, i'm sorry to hear this. That's ridiculous to have two fuel pumps fail on a brand new car.

Stay Away

Leased from Shelly in Buana Park. Excellent sales and finance department, F*CKINH HORRENDOUS service department. Smart assed SA's with the authority to tell people to take their business elsewhere...
Will post more about this in my post about the missing oil coolers at

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57267

I have 3,700 miles on the second pump. Just excellent when you're late for a business appointment, or worse, have clients or family in the car. Really impressive.

It's one thing for a new car to develop a squeak or have a speaker fail. But this is serious crap here. A major mechanical/ electrical part needed for the safe operation of the vehicle FAILS on a regular basis?

I’m thinking about sending a big old letter to JD Powers and Assoc. I was thinking about that M3. That will be in the same situation, a new model, with a lot more to go wrong than a 335i. I'm eyeballing other makes a lot harder.

My tuner friend said. "Just wait until the M3 hits the bricks, mucho potential problemas"

I would be tempted to call The California Attorney Generals office on that tid bit.

Yes. This is bad. Kind of points to BMW maybe using the same pump as a replacement, and crossing their fingers. There might be no such thing as a "new" pump, in which case all the pumps have the potential to bite it.

That's nice if you have that option, but unfortunately my POS local dealer here in Wilmington, NC doesn't offer loaner cars so I am praying that nothing is wrong with my fuel pump when it gets here.

Dealerships are controlled by the Dept of Motor Vehicles...that is where you take your beef to.
