removing spilled champagne from trunk

So a bottle of champagne uncorked in my trunk and resulted in some spillage of the bubbly. Good thing I had a towel and Duffel bag back there yo soak up most of it. However a portion of it got soaked into the carpeted material in the trunk. I used a towel / paper towels to soak up most of it. But it now smells like champagne. How for I get rid of it? I read about using vinegar and water followed by baking soda. Any pro tips?
