Microfiber towels leave crystaline dots???

I thought I was crazy... For years I\'ve been using microfiber towels and would notice specifically on black paint and glass you can see shiny crystalline dots left after swiping with a clean microfiber. I never use fabric softener when washing them and very little laundry soap.

So I got my car back from LUSTR detailing (awesome job btw) and noticed the same dots left behind on the glass from HIS MFs.

Anyone know what this is and how to prevent it?

Microfiber shedding. Common in many towels, and easiest to see on mirrors and black paint.

So.... just buy new towels or just forget about it?

It's not a big deal on the paint... I only really notice it when I'm driving and the sun is in front of me... it reflects every little iridescent spec on the windshield.

Are the certain brands that don't shed, or an ulterior method?

Depends on the towel really. Eurow shag microfibers are awesome, but they shed at first. We wash them 5 times prior to use. Other towels are great at first, but then begin linting.

The worst thing is sometime you have a towel you think is good to go, until you see it used on the right color in the right lighting and you see linting

I'd recommend purchasing a decent amount of quality microfiber towels, so you're not prematurely wearing out any particular one, and you're always likely to have multiple ones still in perfect condition.

Another tip is to never wash your microfiber towels with any other material. If you machine dry them make sure the lint tray is completely clean.

Dr Joe dedicated Lint-Free 100% Cotton Surgical Towels, that have a tight cotton herringbone weave and a thread count of 170 per square inch, which is ideal for hard surfaces like glass as they have more ‘grip’ than micro fibre towels and helps to break up the surface debris.

Washing/ Care - rinse cloth thoroughly or wash prior to first use, always use cloth damp. Simply wet it with water and wring it out well.

I doubt that you use anything else after trying them

Do you have a link to the specific towels? I keep looking but the ones I am looking at just seem like regular MF even though the title is different...are these them?
