Seat Position Obsession
So, you'd think that with all of the different power-seat position possibilities, it would be easy to find the perfect driving position. Well, I'm still searching. I must have set and reset the memory buttons a couple dozen times. That's how many times I think I've found the perfect position. Then after driving a while, I want to be a little higher, or a little lower, or a little further back, or pull the steering wheel closer. I'm obsessed! I wish I could just find the sweet spot and leave it there already!
This may be a weird question, but I'm curious. Am I the only one with this crazy addiction to the seat position buttons? Is there anyone capable of just setting it and forgetting it? I think I may need a support group or something. Hi. My name is McDeb and I am a power-seat-aholic. |

Be happy you have a memory setting. I have 12 way manual seats in my M3 and god forbid someone touches one of them. Youll never find your way back to your comfort position for weeks.

I have all my buttons on the same setting just in case. It seems like you can never get it exactly like it was if something or someone screws with it.

Welcome! If you're looking for a support group for bizzare obsessions related to your BMW, you have come to the right place! That is of course, if by 'support group' you mean equally insane people who will probably be no help at all, but will make you feel sane by comparision!
I tweak my settings from time to time - especially on long drives. What I generally do is find my "baseline" cumfy position and set the memory button for that. Then little tweaks here and there can change as I want. Because the key fob recalls your last position you're good to go - until someone else drives with your key. Then I use the memory button to return to baseline settings and tweak from there....

Well ... I notice that in the morning I have a lower seat position than I do in the afternoon / evening...so my 2 seat memory positions will be set up for that.
Lol, I wake up ,get in the car and I am "taller" so I have to tweak my mirrors and seat for that...not much but it makes a difference. Then...when I get off duty ..my mirrors are a skosh high and the seat is a bit further from the gas . I guess I compress my spine a GOOD amount during the day. Glad they give up 2 settings |

same here.......I have my seat buttons BOTH on pretty much the same settings. One throws my seat back about two inches for highway driving. and the other, 2 inches closer, is for driving off the highway - and on canyon roads.
I've accidentally hit the reset button a couple of times and i completely lost my settings......took me weeks to get it right again....sucks really.

I also find it tough to find a perfect seat position in relation to clutch pedal and steering wheel. Somehow my last car was better overall fit. I don't think it's a bizarre obsession, different body sizes. I found the sedan easier to find more comfortable position, the sacrifices we make for the coupe!

Just remember to take both Key Fobs to the dealership when it's getting serviced. Give them the Fob you NEVER use or the wife's Fob. That way your settings do not get all screwed up.
BUT, this does no good if you still haven't found the perfect setting. One thing I did is raise the front end of seat up more than normal, drop the rear of the seat down then adjust the back to more upright position, feels like the seat is really cupping you, holding you in place. It's pretty nice. You do not want to have your arms out straight to the wheel either, steering wheel should hit you right around your wrist and just a little closer. But I am still tweaking my own settings, I haven't found that sweet spot.

I agree on the seating position. I've always set my seat exactly how you have it - the front higher and rear lower with the back more in an upright position

The weirdest thing for me is how close I am to the Steering wheel once I found my ideal position. I'm 6'1" and the car fits me perfect, I'm just farther forward than I'm used to being. Not too Close, just closer.
I'm not there yet, but I think I am getting close. Would be handy if someone could create a "Suggested" guide based on inseam, reach, weight, and height.

And Don't forget that we shrink during the day. So you program one set of Morning preferences for mem2, then your Afternoon setting for Mem1... Should help.

...and the steering wheel! Mercedes makes that an option, even on the C class. Of course, they have a power adjustable steering wheel. Y'know what would really be cool... is if when you pressed your memory button you could remember what you were thinking when you set it!!
