Passenger dipping wing mirror

Normally when I put my car in reverse my passenger door mirror dips so I can see the curb, today it has stopped working, I have checked the selector switch on the drivers side with no luck.

Any ideas what might be wrong.

Thanks

Try wiggling the switch from side to side and then leave it in the driver side position. If it doesn't work, see the dealer.

Correct me if i am wrong but i think it's only available on those with folding mirror option..had this on my last E93 but not my current E92.

Two options for auto dipping on passenger side:

Elec Fold Exterior Mirrors £180
Ext. mirrors - folding, auto dimming £310

So £130 more so they dip. Seems a right rip off to me as the motor is already there. It doesnt look to me like any more parts are needed. All it needs to do is detect reverse gear and make the mirror motor tilt down.

2008 E92 M-Sport, NO folding mirrors, but it DOES dip when selecting reverse.

Edit: Memory Seats.

Need to have memory seats for the dipping function.

Mine's also stopped working.

And there is a paint scratch on the mirror cover presumably from the c@nt who knocked it

Still folds up though, so may take it apart and have a look and see if theres anything I can do to fix it.

Well, today it works after doing the above although it does appear to be alittle slow, I will keep an eye on it.

Thanks

I don't know if they changed the specification later but in 2008 you got the auto dip mirror if you had either folding mirrors (with or without auto dim) or full electric seats.

Must have changed since the e46 / e39 days where you had to have memory seats. Memory seats included memory mirrors which was required so the mirror "knew" where to return to after dipping.
