Downpipes installation, FML

I know this topic has been covered a million times but I still have to say it again, Downpipes installation is PAIN IN THE ASS! there is never enough room to work on, I somehow manage to take the stock piping off, when I tried to line up the catless pipes, BANG, that stupid clamp split into half... Guess I have to let it sit in my garage for a while till I get a new clamp for Tischer. share your PITA experience of downpipe intalling here and appreciate ang advise for reinstalling downpipes.

Yea I'll never do it again either. I could probably do it in a couple hours after doing it once, but even still, every step was a fight.

Try doing them with a steering shaft in the way then. You don't realise how easy you have it.

What DP did you have? The AR's went in pretty smoothly! You should just run without them for a while! Lol. Hope your intall works out better! You will love them!

I actually thought the install was pretty easy and straightforward... even with big man hands lol. It took me about 5 hours (including lunch and a trip to home depot), 3.5 hours of which was spent trying to get one of the rear O2 sensors off.... Ended up using vice grips and a hammer after losing all patience. After being bludgened to death the sensor still works too. I was very surprised at that.

Having done a few DP installs now, the O2 sensors don't give me much trouble anymore after using some PB Blaster on them and a crow's foot O2 sensor socket.

I'm willing to guess this wasn't with AR DPs.

can't agree with you more!

it was a nightmare. one more thing i think no one mentioned was that to remove the oxygen sensors you need to unplug them under the engine cover!

Peanut Butter Blaster?
PB blaster is like wd 40 which helps lubricate the area your trying to loosen and allow it to remove easier.

Try it with the Xi... you have to drop the subframe, remove the pass. motormount and tilt the engine up. I don't know how anyone could do it without a lift.

i feel your pain, install it for six hours( with both of my son). drove it and enjoy it for 2 weeks until rear o2 goes out and remove the DP (to find out the problem) for 6 hr. All in all it was fun except for the raspy exhaust sound. Now I am really considering of another install but just don't know when.

been driving with DP on for a couple days now, I found out that wastegate rattle sounded much worse, I understand that there will be an increase sound of rattle but now it is just bad, might have to put stock DP on and take it to dealer:mad0260 :

I was hoping to get a new pair of turbos, fortunately my SA is a pretty cool guy and he has a FBO 335, hopefully we can work something out and save me some hassle, otherwise I might just sell my DPs after taking them off, lol
