Who going to DMS soon....?

Going to book my car in soon to get sorted.

Anyone booked in or planned to go as would be good to meet up and maybe get some extra discount...?

320d remap planned.

Once my car is run-in (it ain't even delivered yet) and others have done so here, might consider it.

Well he may have been having a bad day, but he said that for now they had sort of given up trying to rewrite the eprom.

But seeing as Roy has done Nicks 335d, which I am sure would use similar encryption there must be something on the way, I will use him to to do mine if he has a map for the 335i.

How long do you have to wait till a DMS remap is not going to damage car? I'm on 3K mileage at the moment. Also how will it improve 0-60 for 320d?

I waited around 300 miles on the 535d, just do it.

You will get around 205bhp, and knock a good second off maybe a little more.

Do a search for DMS 120d on google, that will return a review.

Bloody noobs!!!!

Only kidding

Its recommended you have broken in the engine first - anything after 4-5k I would of thought. There has been others that have remapped well before this with no problems. No definate times but from what I've read, its a lot quicker and well worth it.

I thought "broken in" is more like 1k ? Isn't that the official BMW break-in point at which you can start to drive like you stole?

I would say it is all nonsense, all the cars that have been driven hard from the start always feel really nice and peppy.

So you would ignore the advice in the manual and drive like you stole it from day one 0 miles ? I've always had ex demos so although I'm looking forward to my car I wasn't so keen on having to drive it like my grandma for a few months

Everyone will tell you differently, I would tend to push it quite hard from day one, don't be silly and let the engine warm up properly and cool down maybe a bit longer than usual but don't nanny it.

That's what I do to all my cars (although I make sure the engine and oil has warmed up adequately). BMW has anticipated even the worst hooligans in their customer line up, the safety margin they built into their cars is HUGE.

Also, if there's any part I would like to upgrade, I do it whist the car is new. It's soooo much easier to remove the nuts and bolts. I really dislike working on cars with rust and seized components!

Thanks guys, I will go with the fun route So how far from my dealer before it will be warm enough to floor it ? I was concerned they might be able to tell like in Days of Thunder where he comes back in and there's a thing on the speedo that shows he blew it

Welcome to the forum boinging!

Paddywac can give you the low down on the improvements of the 320d via DMS. I'll I can say is that I couldn't match his pace by a good margin, and he was glued to Beauforty's (330i) back bumper even though they were both going for it

Thanks! Have been lurking on here for a few months prior to delivery (1st March) before taking the plunge and registering! Will post some pics of my car once I get the gloss black grill on this weekend.
