Stalled... In an automatic. Help?

So the other day I was driving (e90 '06 325xi if that helps) and I held the dtc button turning off the dsc just out of curiosity. So i'm at a stop and I give it some gas and the car stalled... Well the engine stayed on and it was still in drive but there was 0 throttle response. I shut off the engine, started it again, and drove away cautiously for the entire ride home. Any idea what happened?

PS. I understand turning off the stability control is stupid, especially in an awd n52 because of the lack of power, but it was honestly out of pure curiosity

Unless there's a tech bulletin on this specific issue, it's unlikely an official answer exists. That being said, I've experienced gremlins too. For example, once I stopped for someone making a right turn, they were going really slow, so once I was clear I gunned it. The car had no response, started idling rough, and the check engine light came on. It came pretty close to stalling, but didn't. I pulled over and it was still idling incredibly rough.

I shut the car off and turned it back on. The check engine light cleared and the rough idle was gone. This was 2 years ago and it never happened again.

YES that's basically what happened to me except the check engine light part. Either its a transmission issue or BMW's way of trying to keep us from getting wrapped around a telephone pole

probably just a misfire. If it happens again, I would start to worry more about it

Huh?

It's only stupid if you hoon with DTC off in bad weather, has nothing to do with the power levels. Other than that, everything you described seems like something wrong with the car. With the 6MT bogging is completely the driver's choice, and should be impossible on an automatic.

Computer malfunction I bet, the car is drive by wire. Unlikely the transmission. Try it again and see what happens. If it’s fine, I wouldn’t worry about it.
