Cheap DCAN coding cable?

Hey, I'm wondering if there's a cheaper version of this cable out there:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-K...item3a6737f780

$65 for a cable seems a little unreasonable.

Well if you have a pre MArch '07 build, you can just buy the obdII to serial cable. Can't remember which interface is for pre March '07, but I got mine for $37 shipped from China.

Got a $10 serial r232 to usb 2.0 adapter off amazon and used the driver that came with the adapter.

No problems so far and I have coded an E46 02/03 325xi, my 05/06 330xi, and a 08/05 330i.

This cable only works with K CAN, pre-March '07 builds.

Don't use the drivers that come with the OBDII cable....mine didn't even load the disc. Use the drivers off the disc that comes with the R232 adapter from amazon.

Cable:

R232 to USB adapter:

Codes/battery through INPA.

Alarm probably through NCS Expert.

Damn! LOL, you can't beat US$5.46 w/ free shipping! That's the cheapest cable I've seen so far.

I mean for $6 you should just try it. Get the R232 to USB adapter I linked to above and if the OBD cable doesn't work, just buy the ones that have been proven to work here on the forum. You can use the same adapter.

From the spec I will say that you should not plug this cable directly to your laptop or to a serial-to-USB converter. This may damage the laptop or the car. This is not an interface converter.

This cable should work with your car. It's for every build before March '07.

Which is "this" cable?

I am looking on eBay and all of them are saying for E90 builds after 03/2007....

There are some listings that say this "E90, E91, E92, E93 od 03/2007"

What does od mean?
