My car land into the canal
My car got into an accident today
I was going straight through an intersection and the other car was going fast and crash my left front head light and bumper, so let my car head right and run into an 20 feet ditch. The police said that its my falut because I should see the car, and gave me a careless driving ticket I saw the newspaper today, and the reporter writes that I was going to make a left turn. I was like...wtf...I was going straight and why I am going to make a left turn on an one way street. The another driver was an american old lady, and I am a asian young kid. The police seems he was ignoring me and was rasicm. The canal was 20 feet deep and it was scary when the car land down, I thought i was going to die. I couldnt imagine if I hitted the wall and the car flipped. Luckly no body hurted I was wondering will my car get totaled? The damage on the exterior front bumper seems it can be repaired, but I believe the body stucture may have a big damage since its had a big impact landing in the canal. Holy shit, I didnt even see pictures but that crash description gave me the chills. It's like out of the transporter movie series.
BTW what state and town are you located in? Racism could be a possibility. |

So sorry to hear! I hope everything resolves well. And about the racist issue, I hope you have taken down his badge number and voice your complain out there!

Wow!
Any witnesses that you had the right of way and the old woman swerved into your lane? Did she wait for the cops or hit & run? They should retest elderly drivers ever 3 years after age 75 (or sooner). Actually they should make the drivers' test in this country more stringent to begin with. GL with the car.

I would imagine someone who know what they are looking at can tell the direction each car was heading when the impact occurred based on the damage.
So regardless of what the other driver said, the fact should surface (now that the car surfaced).

Something Off topic.. I seriously think that Elderly drivers should be retested and restested every 1 year or so to make sure that they pass all the tests required for driving. Many times eldery drivers think they could drive when their physical condition says otherwise. Slow reflexes/reaction time, poor judgement, bad peripheral vision, health conditions, all contributes to accidents waiting to happened in a car driven by them. I'm not saying that most of the elderlys are like that. If I was old 70+, I would rather have someone driving me than me driving and putting others on the road in jeopady. just my opinion.
glad both of you are ok. that's all that matters. |

My goodness. I'm glad you are okay. Reminds me of the Terminator 2 movie when Arnold rides his Harley into the dried water aqueduct.
They may total your car if the frame is bent significantly. |

i would get a lawyer and see if u can do something about this.
it sounds like the police were completely ignoring you and you have proof (accident marks etc) that it wasnt your fault.

In my opinion I think you should just have it totaled if possible. I can't imagine the amount of structural damage that would have been caused by a 20 foot drop. In addition I don't think it will ever drive the same again. Good luck with it all and I hope it all works out well for you. On a side note, it seems like our cars can really take a beating!

Your airbag didn't even deploy. You should've kept driving on down the canal instead of waiting for the racist police to show up and try and pin this on you.
Dude, never mind your frame. You must have demolished your suspension and undercarriage. That's gotta be a write off. I am glad you're okay!!!!! Stand up to them, you were in the right!

Dude that's amazing!!! Glad you are okay. Must have been a scary ride! My bet is that it will be totaled with the undercarriage, suspension and frame damage. And if it isn't sell it ASAP!
How fast were you going that you actually went through that thing? Glad you are okay. |

+1 . Make sure your insurance company takes a good look at the police report and makes their own assessment of fault.

Glad to hear you are OK...that is one hell of a fall.
Get a witness to help corroborate your story, and you can go somewhere with this. Call the newspaper and tell them the cops did not listen to you and you were going strait. Get the name of the officer from your ticket. Give it to the newspaper. Also, take it to your local TV station. They will love to stir up a storm about it. See you on CNN!!

CRAZY!!!!, I'm glad you're ok though. I'd try and fight the ticket though if you think you're right. Were there any witness?

I vote this second greatest thread ever after the NWS thread in Off-Topic.
