BEST Body Shop in Maryland (DC area)?
Forgive me if this has been answered before, but I did quick search and I looked briefly through the threads, but didn't find what I needed and time is of the essence.
Some of you may have seen my last past about my car being hit: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55734 I need to have it towed to a repair shop and I want to find the absolute best shop in the Montgomery County Maryland area for my baby. Can anyone recommend one? One that is as fanatic about their work as I am about my car? Thanks, Rich |

If you're in Montgomery County, check with VOB. I'm not sure if they do their own body work (most dealers don't around here), but if they don't, find out who they use.

Great thread. Always looking for a good place. VOB? Never heard anything about them. All places I have used in the past were sub-par in my book.

Call local Ferrari, Porsche, and other high-end dealerships, see who they rec. Then call the few BMW dealerships in the area - you may get some duplicate recs.
Good luck. |

Don't even try to go to VOB's body shop. They are the worst body shop actually woking on BMWs! Try Ashburn Collision Center or Wagonworks, but stay away from VOB. I had VOB work on a dent on my rear quarter panel and they did a horrible job, and included as a token of appreciation, two new scratches for me to fix as well. There is another member (DANI) here who has her Bimmer at VOB for over three months I believe, and they keep on extending it. She has a post somewhere in the mid-atlantic section if you are interested in reading.

I took my son's Lexus IS 300 to Rockville Auto Body on Taft St off Gude. They were very very attentive to detail. They did an outstanding job on color match etc.

stay away from Ben Neubert BMW SA at Sterling, too btw. That weasel charged me a day rental, after he agreed to pay my rental.
The troubling thing was it was last week, 90 days after the repair incident, and double-talker. If I didnt notice my online, statement I would have never knowned.

Yes my car has been at VOB forever and the whole situation is a mess. Granted a large part of the problem is the insurance company, I still think the dealership has been dragging their feet. Not to mention the fact that they thought it was done and had the rear axle break on them backing it out of a service bay. Just complete insanity.

I would recommend Wagon Work or First Choice in Crystal City, VA.
Wagon Work's worked on my wifes 2002 White Audi TT and they did a very good job. Front damage, new bumper, grill, repainted hood, ... When we sold the car at Carmax, they could not even tell that it had been in an accident. Carmax gave us a very good offer on her car. My buddy had First Choice work on his S4. His whole left side, and I mean whole left side, had to be reworked due to a track accident. They did a great job. Both places are extremely busy so you will have to wait.

Thanks for all the info.... I've had a lot of replies about Wagon Works. Unfortunately, Crystal City is on the other side of the beltway :-( I'll look into Rockville Auto Body and Zamoras....

I took my 98 M3 to VOB once upon a time about 1-2 years ago now. They refinished the front end - quarter panels, hood and bumper. I needed road rash removed.
Well I was paying out of pocket, they completed the work inside of 1 week while i was away on business. When i took delivery of the car I noticed that the paint didn't exactly match the rest of the vehicle. (dakar yellow) I took it back and complained nicely, they took the car for 2-3 days and when I returned they had faded the quarter panels into the sides of the car. Now it looks like new. I would say my experience was fair to good with them. They did a nice job of painting, I had a few issues here and there with it - the color match, some globs of paint in the brake air duct (bumper) and such - they fixed them without issue. I would still recommend going to Wagonworks or someplace else. It was expensive and i'm a perfectionist - so if i pay over 2k for refinishing I expect the best. They didn't provide "The Best" in my opinion. I think paying cash as opposed to insurance puts a little fire under their butts. |
