Someone backed into me at work :(

Co-worker reversed out and hit the side of my car, so upset - he was honest - came and told me about it - we exchanged insurance information - minor indent/damage to back bumper - most likely will have to get the whole thing replaced - any recommendations on what shops to go for quotes?

When I look at bmwusa.com the only certified collision repair shop in the area is "Murray BMW of Denver CCRC" - that can't be right? Anyone have any words of wisdom/past experiences to help me out here?

Thanks,

My car is going to Murray aka Body Works this Thursday. I'll let you know how it turns out. If I remember correctly, Racey had his car repaired there too and it looks good

Are they really the only certified shop in CO?

I've never been in this situation before - should I call my insurance company? Or do I just go get the quote and then the shop handles it? Do I contact his insurance?

you shouldn't have to deal with your insurance company. You should be able to take it to any body shop that you feel comfortable with.

Here's a picture of the damage:

I'm freaking out a bit - do I call my insurance and let them battle it out?

Should I go into Murray tomorrow and get a quote?

First, just relax. It will get taken care of. Second, in the case of my accident, the other guy got a ticket so he was totally at fault (it just so happened that a cop saw the whole thing). I got to work and called my insurance company and my agent said he only needs to get involved if the other guys insurance company starts giving me the run around.

I then immediately called HIS insurance company just to "say hello" and let them know that I wanted this taken care of.
If there were no cops involved I would still call my agent just so he knows whats going on. I don't know how other companies work, but my claim is with Progressive and I can take my car anywhere, hence the reason I am going to Body Works.

If the guy's insurance company jerks you around, get your agent involved and everything will be taken care of.
Sorry for rambling, but your car will be as good as new in no time!

Thanks for the reassurance - you're right I need to chill. His insurance is also with Progressive - I have State Farm - I'll call them tomorrow for guidance - when you called his insurance company how did the authorization work? Are you paying cash from Body Works and then claiming reimbursement with them?

At least in my situation, Progressive has been very helpful. I am dropping my car at Body Works, getting picked up by Enterprise and they will take care of everything. I'm not sure how different it would be if there was no ticket given to the guy that hit me. All I did was call Progressive to make sure they knew their client was involved in an accident with my car. So far so good dealing with them.

Cool - thanks for the info! I've only had my car for a few months..are you going for a diminished value claim?

What is that? Obviously I'm not currently doing that. Seems unnecessary since it's just a bumper cover

My brother sent me this link http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/880666/

He said BMW's that have had work on them sell for less - whether this is true or not I have no idea - I'm not sure how people can tell to be honest - was just curious if you've read about it -

Jesus. Zirc, you are overreacting. Your car isn't going to decrease in value because of a simple fender bender. This would only be the case if it turned into a salvaged title, which it won't. So just get it fixed and all will be fine.

Man, since the guy was honest about it. You should settle the case with him personally without going through insurance companies. This will help him to not to have his insurance premium going up. It could possible kee your car record clean. Just my thought.

That's not that much of a damage. It'll be taken care of by his insurance, him, or your insurance. No need to stress out about it.

I recommended ProAutoCollision in Centennial. My bosses brother inlaw owns this shop and they do EXCELLENT work! This is where Schomp sends their cars for work allot of times.

Get a diminished value claim. In CO you are legally entitled to it. Friend of mine got a little over $1,000 back for having his rear bumper replaced and repainted.
