lag on shift - 6mt
hi all,
tried search but it didn't bring any positive results. i have 2007 335 6mt, jb4 installed. when I'm running on stock or 5 map (doesn't matter) and shift from 1to2, or any other gears, I'm having lag. is there any fix for this issue because it really annoys me, I like when rear wheels are getting drifted on shifting with full throttle. |

To be fair, I bogged on both a JB3 and Procede. It's one of those things you can't do much about at this time until ATR comes out.

Mine is the opposite, I use to have that lag on stock shifting from 1 to 2.
Now with the JB4 and the new FW that is gone. Same config as you with CDV delete. Last edited by gsmurf; 06-19-2011 at 03:26 PM.. |

Guys...have you ever thought that this issue is not tune-related ?
I'm under the impression that this is a clutch issue. I personaly noticed that this is only happens when the clutch is overheated (due to traffic or intensive driving). I also experience minor clutch slipping. All the 6MT i know , has the same issue

GIAC no lags here..i have the modified CDV..and it helped alot with the 1-2 shift jerkiness on stock CDV...this does nothing for the lag the OP describes.

All 335i manuals bog a little. Take it from someone who has driven a lot of good manuals. you can definitely improve it but you won't ever get it perfect. At least IMO

the bog, most often, is timing retard. it happens stock also when the weather is hot, especially with 91oct. You have to dial down boost to reduce it.

I don't know how hard you are shifting, but getting a perfect 1-2 shift is extremely hard and even more difficult when you are putting down more power. I have never experienced this "bog," but your description is slightly ambiguous. Do you feel a lag in the clutch engagement or releasing of the clutch or the differential? There are soooo many variables. Care to elaborate?

You guys saying you have to switch to PROceed is incorrect.
I was in a 08' 335 with a V5 last sat. night and it bogged once too.. Quote:

To be fair, both the JB3 and Procede bogged on my car on high boost. It just wasn't as bad on the Procede.
Both didn't bog at boost levels up to 15-16 psi and was worst on the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts.

Try Dinan. just had it installed last week and the shift (especially 1-2) had improved (no CDV delete).
I believe it's the way they changed the ECU throttle mapping. Besides removing the "drive-by-wire" throttle lag, they also continue to give the engine a little more gas when you life-off the throttle, this is very subtle but it actually prevents the fly-wheel from slowing too much until you get it into the next gear. The drivability of Dinan is better than BMW stock and I believe the amount of testing and re-calibration is what makes them more expensive than other tuners. Quote:
