Is it OK to add M1 0W-40 for topoffs?

I need to add some oil, and I've read through all of the posts that have concluded that US 5w30 isn't the same as EU 5w30, which is why M1 0w40 is the one that's approved by BMW. I was about to top off with that, when I wondered if it is ok to add to the stock fill (original fill, only 7k miles) which is a 5w30 fill. Is this M1 ok to mix with stock, or is this a big no no?

TIA, guys.
