Dyno'd Cobb Stage 1 in 102F heat... 334hp/394ft.lbs (video added)

So before Stage 2 comes out, and then the Access Tuner software follows and I have a custom tune for my car, I thought a baseline was in order. Today DEFINITELY wasn't the best day to run a car on a dyno. At 4-5pm in Plano today temps ranged from 98-102deg F, and in the dyno room, it was on the high end . Combine that with my auto 335i that saps more power than a 6sp and you can definitely do better than what you will see here.

Car strapped down to the dyno, hooking up the boost gauge, the ignition pickup and the wideband 02 sensor:

We calibrated the dyno first, then ran three runs. The first run the tires spun when peak torque was hit around 2800rpm. The first run had to be thrown out because that caused an artificial torque dip/spike in the chart. The next two runs were as smooth as can be and when overlay-ed over each other it's so close it's uncanny. Here is the last two runs displayed at the same time. Notice how close they are, even in 102deg F heat. The ETS FMIC is not allowing any heat soak :

I am uploading 1080p video of the whole session now to YouTube. When it's up I'll link to it here so you guys can see. The video is boring however, uneventful and shows almost 400ft/lb of torque going into the rollers in the most unspectacular fashion.

Did you ever run the car at stock boost there? With full bolt ons on stock turbos in much cooler weather (on a stock tune) I made 256awhp / 289awtq

That is a very high reading mustang dyno.

Stock 335i on this dyno in MUCH colder weather (40deg F), it's not a high reading dyno...in NTEC we call it the heartbreaker. Full bolt-on and tuned Evo's only putting down 370hp . My Evo only put down 282hp on this dyno in October at 23psi.

Stock 335i:

My EVO:

Based on this stock pull on this dyno *your* mustang run was very high reading

My "baseline" was fully modded (catless + fmic.. Etc), in stock mode. So subtract another 15-20 for a real stock XI.

Anyways, if your car is really picking up 120wtq in 102 degrees.. that's a lot more than the typical norm! Not bad!

I am just amazed with Cobb's stage 1 from car to car with different mods. I just cant wait to test out Cobb with Dinan stage 3 mods.

Just ordered my Dinan IC and OC, will be installed next week.

The COBB AccessPORT Stage 1 tune definitely holds up to it's promise. Thanks for posting up your dyno results and sharing them with the community. We are an authorized COBB dealer for BMW so don't hesitate to drop me a PM if you guys have any questions at all!

Great numbers for the weather being so hot!! I need to dnyo mine to see what I make. Only mods are Cobb 93 Stage 1 v 201, BMS DCI, Helix FMIC, and DVs. My friend dynoed his car SAE corrected with only Cobb Stage 1 and no boltons at 320 whp and 360 wheel torque.

Cobb hits it's peak boost only in the midrange rpms and tapers down to 12psi quick. Stage 2 should hold higher boost numbers longer. Where Cobb shines is the monster torque early on.

Great numbers there, especially in this heat! We're expecting more triple digit heat later today the 15th. That's the same day your dyno numbers are dated. Note to Plano Cobb - you might want to update your system....it's running in the future!

Another thing to look at...check out that AFR. Rock solid across the entire RPM range. Just for compairison I pulled a Procede auto-tuned car ran on the same dyno. This was after six tuning runs:

That is not very good...

Just FYI for everyone... I just bought a Procede so I can test it back to back with the Cobb AP on my car. I'll take it to the track and back to the Dyno...

Thats some good numbers considering the heat,xi, and mustang dyno. Shoulda switched to stock mode for a baseline just for the hell of it though.

Kevin told me he would "crack the whip" on the guys down in Austin to get us Stage 2 and ATR. He said he would also ask to see what kind of mods Stage 2 would require. He will be down there on Friday...I'll call him on Monday for you.

Not XI, only auto, with heat, on a mustang dyno...
