Took my car to the track; Is my car healthy?
Took my '07 335xi auto trans to the track (Atco at sea level) yesterday. I was hoping for better times, but it was humid. Only mods are JB+ (75%) & BMS DCI.
However, the lack of traction was very disappointing for an AWD car. I guess I have to blame the runflats until it happens again on different tires. My best run of the night was 13.3 @ 105 with a terrible 2.0 60' That was the best 60' of the night & that was with the tires at 25 psi. Best MPH of the night was 106. I was launching at 2k RPM. I tried launching off idle & that got me a wonderful 2.3 60' thanks to no power below 2k RPM on these cars. I went in expecting a 13.2 & hoping for high 12s. However, I was expecting a higher MPH and much better launch. So was it just crap tires, weather & poor track prep, something I am doing wrong or is the car slower than it should be? |

not too but since you got a jb+ i guess.
my first time last year (same track) i did a 13.09 at 107 (with only a helix attache, for sale btw) with AWD you can launch at higher rpm. went few months after that and i got 12.8 @ 110 with lots of spin( helix attache, dci, downpipes)

def need better tires then lol
since you're not ruining high boost, i think you would benefit more from then stock air box than the dci...

Fastest way down the track is with about a 12% wheel spin. Just launch higher, she will go! JB+ is only a few psi over stock you can get more power with a real tune.

Thanks for not reading. The 2.3 was the run where I left off idle. I'm sure you already know these cars have no power below 2k RPM or so.
The humidity undoubtedly robbed me of .1-.2 & 1-2 mph, but that didn't have anything to do w/the 60' So how is everyone else launching their XIs? If this is all I get from the JB+, I am going to have to upgrade to a plug & play tune as I do not want to flash. |

With the cobb access port you can uninstall it in 10min while setting in the drivers seat w/o ever popping the hood. And you gonna get a helluva lot more out of the AP then you will a jb+. Im not saying the cobb is superior jb4 or procede or anything, I'm just saying it sounds like what you're looking for and you should probably look into it

It's between AP & JB4 I guess. I'm more concerned with finding out how other xi owners launch their cars to see what I can do to fix this 60' time garbage. |

That my friend is a great question!
I dont know the answer, but you talk to any dragster and they will all be telling you they are "spinning" down the entire track and they will mention its the fastest way. Figure this, if you have full traction that means you are leaving power on the table. I think a traction control system can somewhat "dial in" percentage of wheel spin. Keeping it linear and smooth would be ideal. As you know with the factory traction control its quite intrusive as it doesnt allow much wheel spin at all. |

I launch at about 2700/2800 rpms with my auto xi. That should give you 1.7 and 1.8 60fts all day long. Just remember as soon as you build up boost (if you have a boost guage) let her rip because you only have a 2 second window before you loose boost. You will find that sweet spot between 2500 to 2800. Best of luck.
