10/11" width tire fitment question

Having an issue searching for an answer so I'd appreciate a quick response from someone who's experienced in the matter (thinking of purchasing these)

Wheels: 18x10 (F) 18x11 (R)

Tires: 235/40/18 (F) 265/35/18 (R)

This doesn't look safe. Is it? Can't really run a wider tire without risking some form of rubbing, but I'm concerned with these sizes. Any risk of damage under hard cornering?

Thanks!

Here's how they look:

Why are you running such wide wheels with such skinny tires? That isnt smart and is unnessecarily heavy.

Thinking of buying them. Wheels are light (hollow spokes, BBS made)

Point of narrow tires is for fitment on E90s.

They're tempting, but I don't want to buy them risking some sort of tire/wheel damage. I'm not too experienced with 'poke' and was originally planning to run square 18x8 193m on 235/40/18 PS2s but would prefer these.

That's my car. It's perfectly fine.

I had to buy 2 sets of Porsche twists and adapters to make the 18x10/11 set. Wasn't really worth it in the end.
Or is the current owner selling them?

Yes he is, looking to pick them up.

Still not convinced its safe. I'm assuming I'd be at a greater risk to damage the outer/inner rims if I hit a pothole as there's less tire protection? I believe 275 is recommended on 10"?

I definitely would NOT be taking hard turns/corners with that setup. That type of setup is strictly for show. If that's your thing, then go for it, but if you value performance and sprited driving at all then you need to bump up the tire widths. Another thing is that the setup you posted will not be forgiving at all when you hit a pothole. I say "when" because you WILL hit a pothole at one time or another. Unless you really like that stretched tire look, i'd switch them out. Just my 2 cents.

Please stop talking.

I've been driving (hard) on stretched setups for over six years with zero issues. This includes driving in Boston and NYC.

Those tires sizes are required to run those widths without rubbing. You either do it, or you don't.

If the car supported wider tires Id swap them onto the wheels and this thread wouldnt exist.

Any other useful links/experiences would be appreciated...Ill keep on searching...

Look at Formula 1 Drifters with stretched tires and tell me they don't drive hard...
There are no apparent dangers to running mild to moderate stretched tires. All the speculation comes from fear.

i have to agree on my a3 i had 215/35r19 on a 19x10 and never had any issues, they look different and honestly its each to his own, but what i can tell you is most shops will refuse to balance the wheels or have anything to do with it. if you want wider tires just get your fenders pulled/rolled and you should be fine if your not that low

but again there is NO issue with stretched tires

It's all preference and perception to a point...! This forum doesn't understand all that wrong fitment, poke, stretch, flush, aggressive.... it's just crazy..! For those asking about aggressive fitment, and how far you wanna go, I'd say do some research. Not too much people do aggressive wheel fitment much here. There's going to be opinions of what works and what does not. I'd say, if you like it and it works, go for it!! However to make aggressive fitment work well, you are going to have to do work to make it fit. Understanding fender rolling, shaving, camber, toe, height, and all that good stuff...!

If you want a wheel fitment that works without work: 19x8.5/9 et30 225/235 35 19 tire, 19x9.5/10 et30/36 265 30 19 tire. GL

like i said each to his own what you like might be different from what other people like, the stretch i had on that wheel was simply because i wanted to do something different, aka stretching isnt "bad"

Infamous: thanks man!

Only reason people think stretched is dangerous is because they usually appear on cars an inch, literally, off the ground. That's where the danger is. Go for the stretch, looks great!

That stretch is crazy how wide is that rim and what size tire. I like the way a slight stretch looks that's too much for me but we all have our own preferences.

That's gotta be 215 on a 10" or so. Too much for my taste even.
