$12K is not a huge asking price for a private sale and for the way it looks. The market is tough at the moment and I think most car dealers will tell you that. There is a buyer for everything but sometimes they take time to surface. The car has street appeal and being an auto is not a disadvantage. It's just the right person needs to latch on.

Personally .... I'd strip the sound system, amp and subs and lower the price accordingly. You'll acheive 2 things. 1 - The car wont look like it's been owned by a young person which "might" be giving a potential buyer the idea it's been thrashed. 2 - A lower price is always more appealing ---- say $11,500

One more thing ..... get rid of the towbar !!!!! It's a sports coupe not a refuge tip hack.

My initial thoughts were that it's probably been used to tow heavy things and the subs produding gave my a mental image of a hoon going down the road with "doof doof" sounds blairing ....... From my perspective, not a cool look. The M3 mirrors, wheels and clear indicators front and back are a clean and cheap upgrade to bring a 95 to a 97 spec. I did the same to my 93 E36 320i 4 door I once had but ultimatly, it was still a 93 model.

Yes it's on carsales but not drive (never heard of them previously).

The 12k price tag is negotiable, and willing to accept offers of 11k, though best offer i had so far is 10k but i'm not desperate enough to let it go for that much, cause i think it's worth more than that.

Also i was thinking about taking out the sound system and lowering the price but i'd do that only if i have a serious buyer willing to take the car without the sound system, otherwise youngins out there wanting a bmw would prolly prefer it with a sound system.

Also haha about the towbar, i bought the car with it on and i heard they aren't that easy to take off so i'm leaving it on there for now. Looks so out of place on a bmw.

Thanks for all the tips and comments, will look into drive sometime soon.

A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. If the offer was 10 and you would accept 11 then you are almost there. sell it for 10 without the sound system and ebay it.

When it comes to selling something, it's not nessesarily what "you think it's worth" but what it's worth to someone else. If you are in no hurry to sell and move on then stay on it. If your rego is about to come up then It's time to rethink your selling strategy.

Good luck ... may you get what you are after.

Any asset is only worth when selling what someone is prepared to pay.

vgr02 is right, sell for 10 and flog the sound system.
