335 sedan rim issue...

I have a 2011 335d sedan, I bought a set of winter rims off craigslist that were previously on a 335xi coupe, and a 335i coupe. They are in great condition, seller didnt drive the cars in the winter, He provided me with the tire rack reciept and all, 18 in moda md5 rims, blizzak tires, with tpms sensors, for a great price. Here is the issue, the receipt states they are 5x120 18x8inch rims with 225/40 r18 tires. the rims are stamped on the back stating 5x100.... the seller isnt playing around ,and is willing to refund my money, but states that these fit his cars..... so I put one on tonight, and it fits..... tire rack said they didnt know why the rim was stamped 5x100, and if they fit I am good to go.....
What should I do??? I was thinking of putting all 4 on my car this weekend, and driving it to see if it rides fair, the 1 rim i did put on went on easily, no issues what so ever.... how big of a difference is 5x100 vs 5x120??? it shouldnt bolt on easily should it???? thanks for any assistance.

If it was truly 5X100 it wouldn't fit whatsoever w/o an adapter

yeah, that was my thought. It bolted on, but ALL 4 say 5x100..... weird, guess I will put all 4 on this weekend and go for a ride............20 mm difference is a considerable amount of play, and it would be a plug and play...

I just got a new set of wheels and they are stamped with 5x100 but the holes are actually 5x120, go measure the bolt pattern and you'll see it's drilled 120mm.

Never heard of 5x100, I know there's 5x112, 5x114 and 5x120.
But if you can bolt them on, they're clearly 5x120.

Most VWs and a bunch of USA domestic cars use this bolt pattern.
