Where are the 3rd Gen RFTs ?

Anybody seen any for sale yet ? Have they been released yet ?

I heard a bit about them over a year ago, but then they quietly slipped off the radar ?

I had the same thought recently when searching after puncture.

Did find REA05b tyres , is the b 3rd gen as opposed to the a?

I guess BMW are holding these back for the new F30?

Also I think the Pirelli P-Zero and P7 are 3rd gen?

There's been a Bridgestone All Season G3 run-flat released in the States.

In fact it is reported here on e90post.

If Pirelli P-Zero are 3rd generation I'd stay well away, my 335d had a new set of these fitted when I bought it a couple of months ago, they are awful! Don't grip in dry, wet weather is like ice, (all be it we haven't had much recently) or give any sense of when they will let go and the ride is the worst of any run flat I have come across including 19" Bridgestone, mine are 18".

Thanks Pete - so they are slowly coming out.

It seems that upcoming cars will be tailored specifically to this new setup. Found this communication with Bridgestone in another forum :

The use of squidgy hydraulic bushes to counteract the rock hard sidewalls means my early suspension setup is not ideal for softer riding tyres [without replacing subframe bushes and front arms]. From all accounts the latest models ride a lot better.

The use of run flats and how they ride will be the deal breaker for me when I decide to look at a new BWW. In the earlier E90/2s the ride is totally at odds with the "ultimate driving machine" moniker.

Presently run Michelin ZP RFTs and they are a better tyre than the Bridgestone but the ride and "feel" lacks all finesse. Feels like a ballet dancer wearing big, clumpy, hobnail boots.

I changed from a 2008 335D to a 2011 model a couple of months back. Both had M Sport suspension and 19" alloys.

The change of ride setup is like night and day. It is still a firm ride, but you no longer crash through pot holes. Anyone with the same setup will know exactly what I mean.
