Has anyone done a DIY sping install?
I've tried numerous searches but have yet to find anything regarding anyone who has attempted to do the install themselves. If anyone has done it, can you speak to its difficulty when compared to previous gen BMWs. Maybe those who had a shop install them can even chime in.
Thanks in advance! |

I've done spring installs in the past but for the f10 it's a pain in the ass for the rears... It was worth paying a shop to do it...at least in my opinion

I was quoted at 10-11hrs labor to complete the lowering/alignment on my 535xi. Apparently it's very time consuming.
Can anybody verify that?

Don't know about the xi. But for my F10 with DHP+IAS, the shop started at 9am and gave me back the car before 3pm. So a little less than 6 hrs with alignment.........

I have a 535i and am gettng the springs installed tomorrow. ACS quotes 4.5 hours and the shop says that pretty close. I'm getting mine put in at a motorsport and alignment shop in the greater Vancouver area. They have a package price of $450 + tax including 2 alignments. The first alignment is right after the install just to make sure the tires aren't killed. As the car needs a bit of time to settle, the second alignment is for 2000 - 3000 kms later after everything is settled in. Great price. Other shops in Vancouver area all pretty much agree with the ACS 4.5 hours or say 5 hrs for install. Here's the ACS website with the install hrs info. http://preisliste.ac-schnitzer.de/ac...ngl_70027.html |

I'm glad I asked. Tunerworks in Calgary is pretty well respected, but it looks like their prices are fairly inflated. They were going to charge me $1,300 for the install. Looks like I'll go to the dealer or my favorite indie. Thanks.
ps. Looks like the ACS labor estimate is 5.8 hours for the F10 535xi. Still a long way from the 10-11 hours they were going to charge me for.

I went to Dales Motorsport / Dale's Alignment in Langley. Really great results. They know quite a bit about this and have done work on alot on BMW's. They reputation on alignments and suspension work is really good which is one of the reasons I called them....not to mention the price which includes 2 alignments.
