Got the call after work tonight from HR that the order has been approved and will be placed tomorrow for my 320d M Sport Plus, happy days. But now I'm having second thoughts about the options.

Right now I have my HTC HD2 windows phone, but I'm thinking about turning to the dark side and getting an iPhone. Can anyone tell me what options are needed and what they do? At the moment I have the following;

BMW Business Media Package

BMW Business Loudspeakers Pack

USB Audio Interface

What else would I need as the order is being put in this week - are there new options about, I read on here that there is a new 60 quid thing that allows the online stuff to work?

To use the i-Phone app you need to have professional media package. You can get the USB telephone interface which is the bit you're on about but you need the prof nav and Internet options to make it do much.

Thanks for that - what about the cradle for the iphone, is that just an add on? The BMW website configurator is one of the worst I've ever used - doesn't tell you alot.

The cradle just charges the phone and inductively-couples the aeriel. It's not necessary for the hands-free (bluetooth) functionality. And yes, you just buy it from your dealer as a user-fit part.

So should I add the telephone audio usb interface (6nf) to the order? Or can I just pick this up at BMW for the same price afterwards? It's not going to be like £300 to fit after as it wasn't ordered originally or anything daft like that?

Does that mean that you can use the iPhones music on the iDrive? Does the artwork come up?

It will cost many hundreds to retro-fit so I'd do it now. At the moment it does virtually nothing though. I can get artwork to appear on the screen but it is Pro Nav.

My HTC desire has a battery useage tool, and that shows BT as 30% of the consumption per day with 2hrs in the car, even with no calls taken.

Even at home with no BT connection, the BT just being 'on' takes 20% of the power useage.

The 6NF option requires the crap snap-in cradle to work, and doesn't give you anything extra than you'd get by just plugging your phone into the USB port (6FL) you've already ordered.

Just with the 6FL you can listen and control your ipod through the usb port anyway.

Ahh- i guess the cradle is an extra as well? Think I might leave it off the list then. Was just going to get a usb stick to keep for the car, that might be more straight forwards. To be honest if I don't get a good enough phone signal in the car it would be good to just leave the calls until later....do enough work in the office haha!

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but I recall 6NF being the "Bluetooth telephone audio interface" not a "USB telephone interface"?

Has it changed?

Don't want to give duff advice when someones just about to order their car!!

I take it 6FL is still the same USB port for memory sticks / MP3 players and I phones?

Thanks for everyones input - just checked with the office and due to complications with putting something extra on the order I'm going to leave it off. Happy with everything I have on it right now anyway - you know what it's like at the last second....you always want MOAR lol
