MPG display in BC stuck at 47MPG?
Hi all,
Not posted many times, but I have a query. My MPG as shown in the BC on the dash display is stuck at 47MPG no matter how hard or easy I drive?!? Say I set off on a distance drive on the motorway after 20 miles or so the remaining miles of fuel display will start to rise, and after so 50 it's load (50-100 miles) more left then when I set off, so the MPG must be much better, BUT the MPG display doesn't change from 47!! Can I reset the BC somehow or is that a dealer only? 2011 320D 'ed' everything else seems OK, the gear shift advice numbers appear as normal too? Any advice appreciated? Peter |

It's very easy to reset on the older cars.
When mpg is displayed on the OBC just hold down the select button on the stalk and it will reset to 0. Not sure if it's same on the LCI ed versions, but can't see why not..

Another reason it doesn't move too readily, the BMW calcs are based on 0.1 litre/100km. So are a bit coarse in imperial measurement, and rounded out at that. Something like 46.3, 47.0, 47.9, 48.7, etc. VW run incremental calcs, even for the imperial setting, like 47.0, 47.1 47.2, 47.3, etc, so we do see a movement much more readily in a VW, even on long term averages. So as MEGA says, you need to reset on the OBC stalk. HighlandPete |
