cf wrapping the ash tray lid

Hi

im in the middle of wrapping my e90 trim in di-noc. ive taken out the centre console and the ashtray. how have ppl wrapped the ashtray lid?

im finding it hard to take the lip off so that i can wrap it under the trim!

help please!

There are 5 clips holding the trim to the lid. Unclipping them is right pain! You have to get at them from the back.

There is a DIY on here somewhere for installing the sunglasses tray. That may have some more info

I wrapped around the edges, used a little adhesive and then craft knifed around the join.
No tucking required.

Take the chrome trim tab off by accessing the rear and taking the melted tabs off with a dremel.
Glue back on after pushing holes in the wrap.

You might find the lid doesn't open and close smoothly after you wrap it. If so, just use a small washer when you re-install the bolts that secure the ashtray/sunglasses holder to the trim. Then all should work fine.
