LUX H8 V3 vs. GP Thunder V2 8500k
First off, I have to say that Marc provided the best customer service I've ever received. He experienced some delays and told all of us that our angel eyes would not be shipped out until the end of this week (May 13th). I asked Marc if there was any way he could have them to me by Bimmerfest, and sure enough, I just received them today!
Now onto the lights. Over the course of owning this car, I've tried 3 different angel eye solutions: the original GP Thunder in 8500k, GP Thunder V2 in 8500k, and now, LUX H8 V3. Each has its obvious pros and cons, covering price, evenness of the rings, brightness (with xenons on and off), and color temperature. The LUX are by far my favorite; I definitely made the right choice with my first set of LED rings. I am also now a huge fan of the instant on and off feature.. and don't miss the fading in of my old angel eyes at all. The first thing you'll notice about the LUX H8 is the brightness and color of the rings when compared to the GP Thunders. With the LUX, the rings are even and well defined. When viewed from most angles, the outer ring is fully lit with the LUX; the GP Thunders fail to ever light it up completely. As for color, the LUX are rated at 6500k, which looks identical to the stock xenons to me. The GP Thunders had a slight purple hue that I liked before, but I now prefer the pure white of the LUX. What I hated most about the GP Thunders was the fact that they would dim and turn slightly yellow when the xenons were on. This was my main reason for going with LED angel eyes (hence, the excess of photos with xenons on). As you can see, the LUX stay exactly the brightness when the xenons are on, and make the GP Thunders look really... lame. Hope these pictures help. It's pretty obvious that the GP Thunders are on the passenger side, while the LUX are on the driver side. The first 7 pictures were taken at f/9 and 1/200, while the last 3 pictures were taken at f/6.3 and 1/200, NOT under direct sunlight (it was around 8pm). As for the pictures taken outside (last 2), camera settings were f/6.3 and 1/1000. The sun was right behind me. NO EDITING was done to any of these photos! EDIT: I forgot to add--my E92 was produced in 10/06, and with the LUX, there are NO errors, and NO flickering upon startup!

Lux bulbs are pretty awesome. I've actually owned practically every major AE bulb on the market, and the lux setup is one of only two I would currently recommend.

Thanks for the review. It's good to know that it works fine on 2007 models. Before I got rid of them, my RD LEDs would throw an error once in a while and they would flicker.
