Strut Turret Rattling

Okay,
I replaced the oem front strut top bearing assembly recently as it was knocking gently <10mph.
Bit of play there which could be felt with a finger on the dust cover whilst bumping the front of the car.

Admittedly I hit a mahoosive pothole not long after, and the new one has started doing the same.
Could be it got damaged again, everything else appears okay.

Am I unlucky, or am I missing something here - is it something others have issues with on these cars?
Not had a problem with McP strut bearings since the very early Audis...

Steve

I don't think I've read any other reports of problems with the top bearings, so hopefully (?) you've just been unlucky. Was it an expensive part to replace?

I bought pattern, so about £50.

Will order oem next at about £100 with the spring perch and see if that fixes it.

Steve,

When I bought my birds B3.5 kit I asked Kevin about upgrading the top bearings at the same time.

Despite me offering him the chance of more work / parts he said there was no need to replace / upgrade them for road or occasional track use as they had never had any problems before with E9x top mounts.
