Not mounting downpipes to a bracket?

I got me some AA downpipes from a member off here and when installing I couldn't get the brackets to fit into that little bracket not too far from where DP's connect to catback.
Now I looked at AR downpipes and they don't have those brackets at all. Is it good idea to have DP's without any sort of support? I was thinking of do a quick spot weld on that bracket.

you really don't need to bolt them to the bracket, unless you have the dp's with the flex joint, then you may have some movement if they arent bolted. ar's never needed the brackets, you just take that hanger off the back of the trans or if you want you can just bend it back

The stock downpipes are fairly heavy. I bet the bracket is there to reduce stress on the other components. If people can run the catted AR downpipes without a bracket, then you shouldn't have any issues using the catless AA downpipes without the bracket.

That being said, they really should still fit though...

I removed the bracket when installing my PLM downpipes. No issues.
