Disappointed with Tire Rack
I ordered my wheels and tire package through Tire Rack on 04/28/2011. Their website said they were getting a shipment of the Breyton GTS wheels in on 04/29/2011 and Conti Extreme Contract DWS on 05/04/2011. Getting the tires in seemed to good to be true since they've been on back order for some time. So, I called to confirm and the sales rep checked his system and confirmed the wheels and tires were both coming as of the dates on the website.
I know, you're thinking why did you contact Gary, but I did and he never responded to my email, so I went a head placed the order over the phone. Then today I checked my order status and now it says my wheels won't be here until 06/11. I called customer service and they told me the wheels came in, but where given to customers ahead of me. Apparently, their system doesn't account for pre-sold items before they post the availability on their website? Even better, she said the Conti DWS tires have no shipping date or truck information, so they have no idea when they are really coming in. I didn't expect something like this from Tire Rack, but it is ridiculous that they cannot manage their inventory and mislead customers of their stock and wait times. |

I'm going to tell you now to give up on the DWS. I dont know what's happening but they are impossible to get. I ended up getting RE960AS. A bit more expensive but I didn't really have a choice. Also, I contacted Gary multiple times through email and he always replied to me so I dont know what happened with you. I dont know what's the deal with your wheels though.

Go to a local tire shop, they can source them. I went through a similar experience with Tire Rack, only to call a local shop who could not only get me 19" 35/30 series Conti DWS tires with 3 business days, but the total price after install was a bit cheaper then what I would have spent going through Tire Rack aftering factoring in shipping.
Not to mention if you have a problem with your tires, trust when I tell you the convenience of dealing with a local shop that sold them to you vs Tire Rack is worth it. As an example, I have a VERY small bubble in the sidewall of one of my tires (I have less than 3k mi on them), I sent my tire guy an e-mail and not only was he able to get a replacement DWS tire within a matter of couple of days, he also completed the Conti claim form for me and said they have 100% success rate getting their customers refunds. No hassles or questions asked. |

Local shops told me that DWSs are impossible to get quickly.
I dont konw, when things are on back order, to me, dont expect them until they ship. Who knows if breyton didnt short change tirerack on their alottment. |

This is not true, well maybe in some areas. I guess my local shop has some "secret" connection, because not only did they source 4 DWS tires and have them in their shop within days (tire sizes 235/35/19 front 265/30/19 rears) when they were on back order through Tire Rack, but they just got a replacement tire in for me.

Yeah, I'm trying to find another set of wheels but it seems like everything is on back order. My local shop said the DWS 235/35/19 are on national back order.

cssnms you probably got the last set in the nation lol. I've looked everywhere, tirerack, discount tires online, local discount tire stores, local firestone stores, national firestone website... umm and a few others. Some may have had 1 or 2 rear tire sizes but the front 235/245 are on backorder indefinitely. Perhaps you should disclose your local shop's contact info

I'm surprised Gary isn't chiming in, he is usually very quick to respond to my emails.

I am not suggesting this shop has a connection that carries a limitless supply, but rather I am only saying they are out there if one looks hard enough. My shop was able to "source" them through one of their many industry contacts, likely another tire shop. It took them a day to find them but they did. Most if not all of the major chain tire shops will not go through this trouble, they only check their national database and that is it. I am really luck to have found this tire shop, they are Last edited by cssnms; 05-05-2011 at 11:40 AM.. |

I cancelled my Breyton wheel order because I don't want to wait until mid-June. Supposedly, Tire Rack is getting a shipment of DWS tires tomorrow and they are shipping them to me on Monday. We'll see...
