Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 or Continental ExtremeContact DWS
Hey guys
Im looking to get some tires for my wheels, I go to school in upstate Binghamton, and live in long island, so im wondering which ones should i get Hankook v12 or ContinentalDWS? On tirerack.com, Hankook is marked for max performance summer while continentalDWS is marked for ultrahigh performance all season, i plan to use my summer wheels till October, maybe early November if no snow. So after all, if im just using till october, does it still matter still i choose summer tire or all season tires? And how good is Hankook V12 in rainy days? and which one is more comfortable, anyone who has either of this, please comment on them. Thanks for the help guys. Terry~ |

are you going to be switching to winter tires when its winter? if not then you answered your own question.

I still plan to get dws whenever I need them on my next set, or this set when the time comes

I asked the same question to a friend who works at Tirerack a week ago...I went with the V12s for my M3 (just a DD car so was considered about rain as well). The DWS he stated my car wouldn't feel as planted as I was used to.
I'd say if you go to the TR site and look up wet traction ratings, it should tell you the story. |

Hancrap v12s are the absolute worst for straight line traction you can get. I know two buddies who have these tires and they can't hook from a 60 roll on dry roads with their 135 and 335i.
I have the DWS and although that soft ass sidewall will make cornering a bit jittery, the tires are quiet, soak up vibrations from nasty NYC roads and have amazing dry traction in the straight. I can hook easily from a 40 roll and I am pushing around 420whp. They are pretty acceptable in the snow as well. Great tire for NYC IMO. If you want the best summer tire in regards to both lateral and straight line traction, go with the Dunlop Direzza Z1s. STAY AWAY FROM THE HANCRAPS!
